Wipes & Personal Hygiene Products Clog Sewer Lines

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/09/2015 08:41 PM
San Andreas, CA...Few people know that many baby and adult personal hygiene products marked as “flushable” or “disposable” can cause serious problems for sewage disposal systems. Blockages caused by these products can cost homeowners and public agencies thousands of dollars in repairs. The Calaveras County Water District is asking for the community’s help in keeping sewer lines clear. Toilet paper is designed to break down, so it can pass through pump stations and move easily through sewer lines. Many products marked as “flushable” and “disposable” do not break down and can cause clogs in pump stations and collection systems. While these products may be advertised as convenience items that can easily be disposed of in toilets, they should not be flushed...

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 02/04/2015 09:08 PM
San Andreas, CA...As the winter winds make our bodies shiver, it’s nice to wrap our cold hands around a steaming bowl of hot soup. You can pop the top off of a commercial can of soup and amuse yourself trying to pronounce all of the ingredients. Or you can pop the lid off of a jar of home canned soup, confident that you don’t need internet access to understand what the ingredients are....
