Angels Camp, CA...As you and your child plan and shop for the items on your “Back to School” list, think carefully about that new back pack. To avoid injury, choose a backpack that is the appropriate size for the back it needs to fit. Select a pack with well-padded shoulder straps to prevent too much pressure from being placed on the neck and shoulders. A proper fitting backpack should rest evenly in the middle of the back, with both straps placed on the shoulders. Straps should be snug, but not overly tight; basically, the strap should be easy to take on and off but not allow the pack to hang more than 4 inches below the waist. If the backpack comes with a waist belt, it should be worn to help distribute the weight more evenly...

Theordore Davis-Marsh 1944 - 2013 |

Mountain Ranch, CA...Theordore Davis-Marsh, 6/1/1944 - 7/12/2013. Age 68. Died of a Stroke. Born in Charles City IA, he spent much of his childhood in Guatemala and El Salvador, where is parents were missionaries. He spoke fluent Spanish. He graduated with a BA in History from Northwester University. A loving father of 5 children and grandfather of 2, Ted spend his life taking care of others. He was a pioneer as one of the first stay at home dads. He fought for freedom in the Vietnam War. He was a seeker of knowledge, always on the cutting edge of new techniques for health, wellness and spiritual enlightenment. A man who made friends everywhere, he will be missed by the community and his family.

Charlie & Lola Are Waiting For You |

Here are some of dogs that are currently at the county shelter and available for adoption. While these dogs are at the county shelter, Calaveras Humane Socoety is working to get them out and into their forever homes. Charlie is a Bloodhound/German Shepherd mix and is about 10 to 12 months old. He weighs 51 lbs., and is still growing. Lola is an Anatolian mix (maybe Saluki) and is about 2 years old. Angels Camp, CA...Did you know Calaveras County has three caverns that you can visit? Where else in the world can you find so many underground adventures in one spot? And we’re not just talking about a few walking tours either (although that’s a great place to start). You could literally spend an entire day, or heck, even weekend exploring the caves around here...

Calaveras Community Foundation Adds Two Board Members |

Angels Camp, CA...Terry Beaudoin and Gil Valtierra were recently welcomed to the Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) Board of Directors. The Beaudoin family moved to Valley Springs in 1986. Since then Terry has been involved in several local fund raising efforts and was on the founding board of the “Kids Place” after school day care which is still running at Valley Springs Elementary. He is a former Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus. Terry and wife Sharon raised their 2 children in the Calaveras school system and have developed a great love for this county...
