San Andreas, CA...Bring the kids, ages 1-5 years, to Storytime Spring Celebration on Wednesday, April 26 from 10:30 – 11:45 am at the Main Library Branch in San Andreas located at 1299 Gold Hunter Rd. Enjoy music, books and spring-themed crafts. Free to attend. Event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library for San Andreas/Mountain Ranch. For more information call 754-6510.

Mark Twain Medical Center Foundation Volunteers To Host Spring Fling Bazaar On April 11 |

San Andreas, CA...The public is welcome to attend the Spring Fling Bazaar on Tuesday, April 11 from 8 am to 2 pm at Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC), 768 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas. Available for purchase will be handmade items including Easter baskets, Easter wreaths, floral arrangements and a variety of crafts and baked goods. Hosted by the MTMC Foundation Volunteers, the Spring Fling is a fundraiser to support their Scholarship Program for students embarking on a career in healthcare.

In recent years, we've happily seen the trend of giving children live bunnies, chicks or ducklings in their Easter baskets begin to fizzle away. We encourage you to "choose chocolate" (plush critters are great too!) and only give your kids live creatures if you're prepared to provide for their needs and make them a permanent part of your family.

San Andreas,CA...Calaveras County students in sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grades will compete to become the top speller in the county. Two will advance to compete in the Statewide Junior High State Spelling Bee Championship in May.

Man Stabbed In Turner Park During Alleged Marijuana Buy |

San Andreas, CA...On 04/01/17 at 8:30 PM, The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office responded to 345 St. Charles Street in San Andreas for a victim of a stabbing. Deputies learned that a 22-year-old man from Mountain Ranch was allegedly trying to purchase marijuana at Turner Park when a physical altercation ensued. The unknown suspect stabbed the victim with an unknown instrument and left the park. The victim walked from the park to a nearby business and asked for help. The citizen called 9-1-1 and the victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment and later released. The victim sustained a minor laceration to his back. He only provided vague details about the incident to the investigators.

Illegal Grading Complaint Leads To Seizure Of 940 Marijuana Plants |

San Andreas, Ca) On 03/31/2017 at approximately 9:00 AM, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies with the assistance of Calaveras County Code Enforcement served a search warrant on the 1000 block of Highway 49 near the town of San Andreas. The search warrant was a result of a citizen complaint of an alleged illegal grading filed with Calaveras County Code Enforcement. Investigators learned that the property had unregistered marijuana grow and the significant grading to the property was unpermitted.

Illegal Dumping At Calaveras High School Possibly Related To A "Honey Oil" Or "Hash Oil" Lab |

San Andreas, CA...On 03-30-17 at about 1245hrs, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office responded to Calaveras High School for an illegal dumping on school property. Deputies located 44 canisters of butane near the lower parking lot on High School Street. The butane canisters appeared to be garbage from a BHO (Butane Honey Oil) lab. A total of 44 canisters were located.
