Calaveras Airport Day 2018, Fly-In & Open House is April 21

Angels Camp, CA...Calaveras Airport is hosting their annual Fly-In & Open House on Saturday April 21 from 8am to 5pm. In addition to many aircraft flying in there will be aircraft, classic cars, & RC airplanes on display. Lions Club will be serving a pancake breakfast and for lunch EAA chapter 484 will BBQ hamburgers & more. There will be music throughout the day by "The Calaveras Community Band" and "The Rusty Rockers". Airplane rides are offered to the public; $10 for children & $20 for adults. Arnold, CA....The National Weather has issued an update on the Weather Changes for Interior Northern California this Week...A couple of Pacific weather systems will bring rain, mountain snow, breezy winds and colder temperatures to interior northern California this week. The first Pacific weather system will weaken at it moves inland today. This system will bring light rain mainly to the mountains in northern California, and locally breezy winds and cooler temperatures. Snow levels will generally remain above the Sierra Nevada passes.
Update From The Sheriff's Department on School Threats

San Andreas, CA...On the morning of April 9, 2018 the Sheriff’s Office learned that Calaveras County school officials in the Calaveras and Bret Hart Unified School Districts received an email from an unknown person who threatened to bring a gun to school to harm students and staff.
Mark Charles Jacobson 1952 - 2018, Veteran, Teacher & Man of Faith

San Andreas, CA...Mark Charles Jacobson was born on August 12, 1952 in Janesville, Wisconsin to Gordon Charles Jacobson and Norma Ellis Jacobson. Mark passed away at the age of sixty-five on March 30th, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Mark grew up with his mother and father in Janesville, Wisconsin. After earning his high school degree in 1970, Mark left his hometown to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mark graduated in 1974 with a degree in Management. Upon graduation his first assignment was in Sacramento, CA where he met his wife Linda. Throughout his career he was stationed in a wide variety of locations including Georgia, Washington D.C., Southern California, and England. In 1979 while in the military, Mark completed a Master's Degree in Logistics Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology. After twenty-two years of service, Mark retired in 1996 as a Lieutenant Colonel and moved to his wife's hometown San Andreas, California.
Retired, CHP Lieutenant Commander Georgia Hiehle Has Passed Away

Jackson, CA...From the Amador Area CHP Office and Lieutenant Hiehle was a longtime resident of Calaveras County..."The Amador Area is saddened to report the passing of retired, Lieutenant Commander Georgia Hiehle, ID 10578. Lieutenant Hiehle was a valued and distinguished member of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) for 33 years. Lieutenant Hiehle entered the CHP Academy in January 1, 1983. During her tenure with the Department, she served in Bakersfield, King City, South Los Angeles, San Andreas, San Francisco, and Amador Areas. She spent 12 years as a sergeant in San Andreas and retired as the Lieutenant Commander of the Amador Area on December 30, 2015.
