Traffic Update...Missing Some Goats? Herd of Goats Being Led by Dog on Fricot City Road |

Mountain Ranch, CA...We just received a call from a viewer that said a herd of goats being led by large black dog are being led along Fricot City Road. Please use caution in the area....the dog may have it under control though.

Calaveras Taxpayers Host Annual BBQ on August 10th |

San Andreas, CA...The fund raising event will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017, 5 to 8 PM. The location is at The Pickle Patch, 577 W St. Charles Street, San Andreas, CA 95249. The restaurant is located near the intersection of HWY 49 and Pool Station Road. The speakers include: Jon Coupal of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association will be discussing the constant efforts to overturn Prop 13, an update on the illegal Fire Tax and Senate Bill 2, Tax on county recordings. Supervisor Michael Oliveira Will share his thoughts on county government and the challenges and opportunities ahead. Also, he will be presenting the CCTA Award for Excellence in Public Service to Ed Lark, Manager, Calaveras Public Access TV. Candace Keesey of the Friends of the Calaveras Sheriff’s Office will be reporting on their activity. Candice is a previous recipient of the CCTA Excellence in Public Service Award.

San Andreas, CA...On 8/3/17 Calaveras County Sheriff’s investigators continued to serve search warrants related to the ongoing operation. The updated seizure amounts are 28,650 marijuana plants, 12 Opium Pods, 31 tons of unprocessed marijuana, 1898 pounds of processed marijuana, 13 firearms, 1 piece of body armor and just over $57,000 cash. With over $50,000 cash seized at one location late yesterday afternoon. 35 arrests have now been made.

San Andreas, CA...LEAD AGENCY: Calaveras County Planning Department, 891 Mountain Ranch Rd., San Andreas, CA 95249 San Andreas State Route 49 Commercial Gateway and Corridor Study: Calaveras County, in coordination with Caltrans and the Calaveras Council of Governments, is proposing to adopt a transportation and land use study addressing circulation needs along the State Route 49 corridor through the community of San Andreas and future development at the southern end of town. The department recommends approval of the mitigated negative declaration.

San Andreas, CA...Beginning on 7/31/17 the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office in conjunction with the California Department of Fish & Wildlife, The California National Guard Counterdrug Task Force, California State Water Board, Central Valley Regional Water Board, Calaveras County District Attorney's Office, California Highway Patrol and CalFire began the service of 23+ search warrants through Calaveras County relating to multiple ongoing criminal investigations regarding the illegal cultivation of marijuana and directly related environmental crimes.

Upbeat Outlook Helps Arnold Couple Battle Rare Leukemia Into Remission |

Arnold, CA...“Every night, we toast tomorrow,” says Bernie Jackson as she reaches over to pat the hand of her husband Ira. At that moment, he is in the midst of infusion therapy at the Cancer Center at Mark Twain Medical Center in San Andreas. Ira has been battling a rare, aggressive form of leukemia for some 10 months. It is now in remission thanks to cutting-edge treatment managed by Cancer Center Director Dr. Shiva Singhal and, thanks also, to his wife’s persistence. Dr. Singhal notes, “Ira is a brave patient and Bernie is a wonderful care giver. It is a very serious situation. He was hospitalized for nearly a week at UC Davis. There have been side effects and visits to the ER on occasion. But they are totally upbeat at all times.”
