Sender's Market's Weekly Ad & Grocery Specials Through April 7th

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/02/2020 11:00 AM
Mountain Ranch, CA...In 1950, we started out as a family operation with Erich’s father and mother, August and Freida Sender, in a century-old adobe building. The upstairs was home to the Sender family, and the first floor included groceries, a meat market, a bar, and a small eating place called Opa’s Smokehouse. On Christmas morning in 1968, the old store was destroyed by fire. But in June 1969, Sender’s Market, Inc. was opened. Since that time, there have been many changes, including remodeling, expansion, and the addition of many employees. That’s also when we added the truss plant and purchased Sender’s Market Ace Hardware in Valley Springs. Today, we're still family owned and still working hard to stock everything from pantry essentials to power tools. Whether you've got questions about the perfect cut of meat or the right kind of paint, our helpful, knowledgeable staff has you covered.

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/01/2020 11:32 AM
San Andreas, CA...We implore all persons in and around Calaveras County who do not either reside here or provide essential services, to recognize the impact that the population increase due to visitation has on our community and health care system. Now is not the time to come to our community. If you are visiting for the day or short term, please respect our request to return to your primary place of residence. We cannot support recreation, visitation, close proximity, or non-essential public interaction right now. There is no other alternative and this must be accomplished now. If you want Calaveras County to remain the vacation getaway it has been in the past, we all must act to ensure a speedy recovery.

Distance Learning for the Remainder of the 2019-20 School Year for all Calaveras Schools

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/01/2020 01:33 PM
Angels Camp – “Based upon the statements from Governor Newsom and the letter from State Superintendent of Public Instruction Thurmond on March 31, 2020, we are looking at the reality that school campuses will not be reopening for standard operations for the remainder of the school year. It is important to understand we are not “closing” schools, school buildings are closed. Educational and social-emotional opportunities and supports will be continue to be provided with the new distance learning models,” said County Superintendent of Schools Scott Nanik. The Calaveras County Office of Education and School Districts are here to help students and families navigate this path ahead. To be clear, the school year is not over, it has just transitioned from classroom instruction to distance learning.

Charlie is Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week & Social Distancing Buddy

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/01/2020 02:14 PM
San Andreas, CA...Meet Charlie, a Bichon Poodle mix estimated to be between 3 and 4 years of age. Weighing just over 17 pounds, Charlie is the perfect size for a smaller home and travel. A friendly fellow with excellent leash manners, Charlie very much enjoys his walks and the opportunity to explore. He likes attention and was exceptionally tolerant of a lengthy grooming and bath (though we’re sure you can tell he could use a bit more in that department). Charlie also plays happily with other small dogs, both male and female. His one issue is that he guards his food so a home without young children is a must. Someone who could help Charlie learn to feel more secure and work with him to modify this behavior would be ideal.
