Arrest Warrant Served on Calaveras Correctional Officer

San Andreas, CA...On March 6, 2020, The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic violence incident that occurred in 2019. The domestic violence victim reported that a Calaveras County Correctional Officer had committed domestic violence related crimes against the victim while off duty in 2019. The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office took an initial crime report from the victim and immediately contacted the Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office requested the District Attorney’s Office take over the investigation. This was done to avoid any conflict of interest issues.

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras County Health Officer Revises Local Order and Emergency Regulations Related to COVID-19. On Tuesday, April 28, 2020, the Calaveras County Health Officer revised the Local Public Health Order and Emergency Regulations to clarify access to outdoor physical activities. This latest Order modifies the one released on March 27, 2020. Outdoor physical activities are now permitted to the extent allowed by the Governor of California and the California Department of Public Health. Requirements will be in place to ensure that the health and well-being of people in Calaveras are protected. All other Calaveras County Health Officer Orders related to COVID-19 will continue to remain in place. This Order is in place until further notice.
37 Acres Fuel Reduction Prescribed Burn Scheduled in West Point Area

San Andreas, CA...CALFIRE, in cooperation with Sierra Pacific Industries, will conduct a prescribed burn to reduce forest fuels along Winton Road just east of the community of West Point near Lily Valley Circle. The prescribed burn will begin Wednesday, April 29th, and conclude on May 1st. This burn project is part of the Winton- Schaads Vegetation Management Plan. The purpose of the prescribed burn is to reduce forest fuels on Sierra Pacific Industries timberland near the community of West Point. Approximately 37 acres will be burned, depending on weather conditions.

Charles Brechtel, 62 Passed Away in Motorcycle Collision on O'Byrnes Ferry Road

Copperopolis, CA...On April 25, 2020, at approximately 1752 hours, Brechtel was riding his Harley Davidson northbound on O'Byrnes Ferry Road south of Duchess Drive. Mason was driving her Chevrolet southbound on O'Byrnes Ferry Road south of Duchess Drive. Brechtel allowed his motorcycle to cross the double yellow lines into the southbound lane, and he collided into the left front corner of the Chevrolet. He was ejected from his motorcycle, and was pronounced deceased on scene.

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center and the MTMC Foundation are working to assure that vulnerable seniors continue receiving nutritious meals during the COVID-19 crisis. Popular Senior Meals Program sites operated by MTMC’s Nutrition Services Department in conjunction with an Area 12 Agency on Aging Grant closed in March due to mandated social distancing. MTMC Nutrition Services staff has prepared food for the dining sites in the communities of Burson and Murphys for nearly two years.
