Rabid Bat Found in Valley Springs. Bat Stir Fry, Bat Tea or Bat Kabobs Not Encouraged

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/23/2020 04:34 PM
Valley Springs, CA...On April 16, 2020, Animal Services investigated a report that a dog had been found playing with a bat on the 100 block of Happy Jack Court in Valley Springs. The incident happened the day prior, and the owner called Animal Services for guidance. The owner was asked to bring the bat to Animal Services for processing; the bat was then sent to the San Joaquin Public Health Laboratory for rabies testing. The rabies test came back positive. The dogs from that household did not have current rabies vaccinations, and have therefore been placed on a mandatory quarantine.

Sender's Market's Weekly Ad & Grocery Specials Through April 28th

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/23/2020 08:39 PM
Mountain Ranch, CA...In 1950, we started out as a family operation with Erich’s father and mother, August and Freida Sender, in a century-old adobe building. The upstairs was home to the Sender family, and the first floor included groceries, a meat market, a bar, and a small eating place called Opa’s Smokehouse. On Christmas morning in 1968, the old store was destroyed by fire. But in June 1969, Sender’s Market, Inc. was opened. Since that time, there have been many changes, including remodeling, expansion, and the addition of many employees. That’s also when we added the truss plant and purchased Sender’s Market Ace Hardware in Valley Springs. Today, we're still family owned and still working hard to stock everything from pantry essentials to power tools. Whether you've got questions about the perfect cut of meat or the right kind of paint, our helpful, knowledgeable staff has you covered.

Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/22/2020 11:55 PM
San Andreas, CA...Looking for a lovely senior kitty? Meet Molly, a shorthaired buff and cream-colored adult approximately 12-14 years of age. Molly adores having her head gently rubbed and her ears scratched when the mood suits her. Otherwise, she enjoys a quiet place – preferably on a fluffy pillow in front of a sunny window – where she is content to observe her humans and the world around her. We feel Molly would do best in a calm household with adults and perhaps older children who would understand that sometimes Molly craves attention and at other times needs her space. Molly also gets along well with other friendly felines but shows no real interest in wanting to interact with them. Also, Molly has never been outside and will need to remain an inside-only kitty.
