San Andreas Woman is Sixteenth Case of COVID-19 Confirmed in Calaveras County |

San Andreas, CA...On Wednesday June 3, 2020, Calaveras Public Health confirmed an additional case of COVID-19 in Calaveras County. This case is an adult female from San Andreas. Calaveras Public Health staff is investigating this new case to determine any possible persons who may have had close personal contact with the positive individual. Close contacts will be assessed and monitored for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 illness. Community transmission of disease remains a serious concern.

San Andreas, CA...From CAL-FIRE TCU & PG&E..."This evening CAL FIRE Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit and San Andreas Fire Protection District responded to Cement Plant Road/Pool Station Road for a Sub Station Fire with extension into wildland. The fire is extinguished.

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Hospital Foundation Volunteers announced their 2020 high school scholarship recipients this month. A total of five, $1000.00 scholarships were awarded to Calaveras and Bret Harte High Schools graduating seniors. More than 50 applications were received and the selection process takes into account grade point average, community service and the student's interest in pursuing a health care related career.

Tree Mortality Mitigation Program Update |

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras County is continuing its efforts to mitigate hazards associated with dead and dying trees located along County roads or affecting County infrastructure. Projects that have been recently completed include the removal of 564 trees on Bureau of Land Management parcels adjoining County roads throughout the County, 263 trees in the Highway 4 corridor and 223 trees in the West Point/Wilseyville area. Projects are now underway in the Highway 4 corridor between Blue Lake Springs and Murphys (about 300 trees), in the area between Sky High Ranch and the Alpine County line (about 250 trees) and on U.S. Forest Service parcels located throughout the County (about 120 trees). Another project located in the Big Trees Village community has been awarded by the County to a contractor and should begin in the next few weeks.

Angels Camp CA..(Frogtown, USA)..OptumServe, a health services partner with the State of California, is now accepting walk-ins at the local COVID-19 testing site located at the Calaveras Fairgrounds outside of Angels Camp. This is in large part to expanded efforts to bring COVID-19 testing to the county.
