Sender's Market's Weekly Ad & Grocery Specials Through July 14th

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/12/2020 09:40 AM
Mountain Ranch, CA...In 1950, we started out as a family operation with Erich’s father and mother, August and Freida Sender, in a century-old adobe building. The upstairs was home to the Sender family, and the first floor included groceries, a meat market, a bar, and a small eating place called Opa’s Smokehouse. On Christmas morning in 1968, the old store was destroyed by fire. But in June 1969, Sender’s Market, Inc. was opened. Since that time, there have been many changes, including remodeling, expansion, and the addition of many employees. That’s also when we added the truss plant and purchased Sender’s Market Ace Hardware in Valley Springs. Today, we're still family owned and still working hard to stock everything from pantry essentials to power tools. Whether you've got questions about the perfect cut of meat or the right kind of paint, our helpful, knowledgeable staff has you covered.

Biscuit Awaits You at Calaveras Animal Services

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/10/2020 11:05 PM
San Andreas, CA...Meet Biscuit, a beautiful shorthaired gray and white tabby about seven years of age. Biscuit’s owner passed away and this poor kitty roamed her neighborhood until a kindly neighbor began caring for but could not keep her. The neighbor brought Biscuit to the shelter with a lovely note to Biscuit’s new family along with the kitty’s favorite rug and cat treats. Biscuit weighs in at a whopping nineteen and half pounds as her original owner thought it was funny to overfeed her and see how chubby she might get. Still, when given a choice between food and being petted, this sweet girl always prefers attention from humans and seems happy on one small can of cat food a day. Biscuit does have a slight limp - possibly from being overweight - but her daily chondroitin treats seem to help. We feel she would do best in a household without young children as she has a tendency to “love nip” when overly excited. Biscuit is also not particularly fond of other cats or animals so she needs a home where she can reign as queen and be showered with the love and care she deserves.

Meet Leah & Mia Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pets of the Week

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/10/2020 11:16 PM
San Andreas, CA...Meet Mia and Leah, littermates of about a year old.  Both were teen moms whose kittens have since been adopted and are now ready for a home of their own.  Mia is a shorthaired tortoiseshell tabby (torbie) with distinctive black swirls on her sides.  Leah is also a shorthaired torbie though with more dilute colors and enormous green eyes.  Super friendly and insistent when she wants attention, Mia will gently grab your hand with her little paws and pull it toward her.  She likes to rub up against you but is too full of energy to sit still on your lap for long.  Sister Leah is friendly with a calm personality and enjoys being around people though waits for a human to approach and make the first move.  She, too, is not a cuddle cat and enjoys sitting beside but not on you.  Before arriving at the shelter, the girls lived mostly outdoors and likely miss being outside exploring the sights and sounds of nature. Should their new people prefer having indoor-outdoor kitties, they must commit to keeping them inside for at least three weeks so the girls understand that this is their new home and will not take off and disappear. Though not a bonded pair, it would be wonderful if they could be placed together to keep each other entertained when you cannot be there.
