Local Film "Common Ground" Nominated For Numerous Awards |

West Point, CA...When filmmaker and award-winning writer, Lisa Michelle, of West Point, decided to bring her screenplay, Common Ground, to life, she knew that Calaveras County was the perfect location. The rural atmosphere and the children who reside in West Point, Wilseyville, and Rail Road Flat represented the authenticity in the story that Michelle wanted to tell. The supporting characters and extras were cast entirely from Calaveras County residents.

Update on SR-49 Traffic Collision from 09/20/17 |

Columbia, CA...The driver of the Ford F-250 from yesterday’s traffic collision has been identified as 45 year old San Andreas resident Renee Ilene Hogan. She is still in critical but stable condition at UC Davis Intensive Care Unit. On September 20, 2017, at approximately 1015 hours, a 3 axle Peterbilt dump truck loaded with sand was traveling northbound on SR-49 south of Springfield Road at approximately 45 mph. A Ford F-250 pick-up truck was traveling southbound SR-49 south of Springfield Road at an unknown speed.

Hosting our annual health fairs is just one way that we are able to provide valuable and needed resources in our rural community.”

Copperopolis, CA...On 9-8-17 Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Detectives and members of the Calaveras Sheriff Marine Safety Unit served a second search warrant at a location on D Street in Oakdale for additional stolen property related to the boat thefts on Lake Tulloch. Detectives located stolen property from several of the reported thefts and burglaries that occurred in Copperopolis, CA between June and September 2017.

Calaveras County CA...On 9-11-17 The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team assisted County Code Enforcement Officers with the execution of Marijuana Abatement Warrants which had been obtained for an unregistered marijuana cultivation sites. These sites were located in the 1100 block of Arapaho Lane in Burson, Ca, and in the 6200 block of Michel Road in Mountain Ranch, CA.

Mountain Ranch, CA...On September 19, 2017 between 7a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Calaveras County Public Works Road Crew will have East Murray Creek Road closed for emergency culvert repairs. During this time period, East Murray Creek Road will be closed to all traffic. Please plan your activities accordingly.
