San Andreas, CA...Charles Hewitt of San Andreas passed away on April 20, 2017 at Avalon convalescent Hospital. Charles is survived by his wife Laura Ann of 58 years. His daughter Andrea and son in law Rodney Freitas of Jackson and two grandson Christopher and William Freitas. His daughter Cheri and son in law Gordy Boyd of Brimfield, IL and two granddaughters Amber Dwyer and Heather Warren and four great granddaughters. Niece Lynette and nephew in law Ron Mooneyham . Two great nieces Heather and Brandi Mooneyham and a great great niece Mackenzye Genore and a great great nephew Jase Bruno all of Salinas CA. Daughters Cathy and Stephanie . Charles is proceeded in death by parents Charles and Josephine Hewiit. Sisters Carol Barrett and Sally Hewitt and Charles A Hewitt the 2nd.He also loved his four cats Whiskers, Yellow, Blue. and Patches. Services for Charles will be held on Saturday May 6, 2017 @ 2:00 pm at San Andreas Memorial Chapel.

Valley Springs, CA...On 04/27/17 at about 2345 hours, The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 400 block of La Contenta Drive in Valley Springs for a 9-1-1 call. An 83-year-old victim reported that 38-year-old Jeffrey Alan Greg had strangled and assaulted her. The female victim told deputies that she locked herself in her bedroom, but the suspect kicked the door in. She was able to escape the house and call 911.

San Andreas, CA...Monday, May 1, 2017, at 8:00 AM the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will require burning permits within State Responsibility Areas of Tuolumne County, Calaveras County, Eastern Stanislaus County and Eastern San Joaquin County. Burn hours will not be restricted; however, a transition to night time burning may occur as conditions change...

Steven E. Sapp, 69 From Ripon Passed Away In Hwy 12 Collision |

Valley Springs, CA...The sad notifications to his family have been made and it can now be released that it was Steven E. Sapp, 69 From Ripon that passed away in an early morning collision on Hwy 12 yesterday. He was driving his Ford Explorer westbound on State Route 12, east of Evans Road at an unknown speed. He allowed his vehicle to leave the roadway, traveling off the right shoulder and striking an oak tree. The collision was reported at 5:47am on April 26.

69 Year Old Ripon Man Passes Away In Hwy 12 Collision With Oak Tree |

Valley Springs, CA...Before 6am this morning a 69 year old man from Ripon was driving his 1994 Ford Explorer westbound on State Route 12, east of Evans Road at an unknown speed. For unknown reasons He allowed his vehicle to leave the roadway, traveling off the right shoulder. Consequently, the front end of the Ford collided with an oak tree. The man passed away from his injuries.

San Andreas, CA...Susan Wright’s career as an Occupational Therapist spans some 31 years and she says it has never seemed like work. “It’s more like helping out a friend,” she notes. “OT helps people be independent by figuring out ways for them to handle the activities of daily living.” Susan joined the Mark Twain Medical Center team in January as full-time Occupational Therapist. Her office in the Outpatient Services Center at MTMC reflects her training as a hand therapy specialist – but she reaches far beyond her specialty to help people regain their independence.
