Angels Camp, CA...Blanche Abrams, writer from Columbia, will perform Edgar Allan Poe's famous poem, "The Raven" in a darkly humorous vein with a half-hour Poe Program. Come share "finger" food, "gutsy" fare, maybe some "feetloaf" - and dark libations in the glass. Then bring your scary story or poem to share at open mic. Bring a flashlight to put under your chin for an eerie twist. Scariest and creepiest tale or poem wins a prize.

Sonora, CA...The Sonora Bach Festival will present classical guitarist Gordon Rowland and the cooking of Chef David Ingram at the final event of their 40th year celebration on Sunday, October 30 at 12:30 at Mt. Columbia, CA...The Church of the 49ers' History Committee welcomes all to its "Homecoming Spaghetti Feed" on Saturday, November 5th, from 5 to 7 pm in Columbia. The event features a full spaghetti dinner, and Alex Kash, a local singing talent and expert on the 12-string guitar and harmonica, will entertain the crowd in Faith Hall with favorite songs from the 50s, 60, 70s. A highlight of the evening is the unveiling of a Time Capsule, placed by the youth and church members in 2001 at the dedication of Faith Hall.

Sierra Repertory Theatre Founders Announce Retirement After 37 Years |

Sonora, CA...Dennis and Sara Jones, who founded Sierra Repertory Theatre 37 years ago, met recently with the Board of Trustees to announce their retirement. They will remain at the helm for the next nine months and plan to transition the leadership of SRT to Artistic Director Scott Viets as of August 1, 2017. Viets has been SRT’s Artistic Director for the past 14 years and is familiar to audiences as a director, choreographer and actor, most recently starring in The Drowsy Chaperone. Becky Saunders, a guest performer, stage manager and director with SRT since 1994, joins the staff in April, 2017 and will become Managing Director as of August 1, 2017.
