Berlin, Germany....Today marks the 30th Anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down and the start of the reunification of the friends, families & eventually East & West Germany. The wall was a hated and physical symbol of the totalitarian governments of the Soviet Bloc nations and their oppression of individual freedoms. There are lessons still to be learned from the post World War II history and mistakes not to be repeated. So today we celebrate the freedoms for millions in a post Soviet Era world. The wall fell 30 years ago but the concrete and rebar started to crumble two years earlier in a historic speech by President Reagan. His complete speech in text and video is below

Murphys, CA...On Monday, November 11th at 10 a.m. the Ebbetts Pass Veterans Memorial District hopes you will join them in honoring those who served. Taking part in the program will be the BSA Scout Troop 343 Color Guard, The American Heritage Girls, Michelson Elementary 5th Grade Students Speakers and the Calaveras Community Band. We have video and photos below of last year’s ceremony below… When you visit Murphys whether you are a visitor or a local resident take a few minutes to visit the park. Basically, you can quickly clip these onto your ridge or gutter using a piece of 3/4″ PVC (not supplied), turn them on, and have your roof soaked to help prevent ignition during fires. Depending on water pressure, these can have up to a 34′ radius.

Sierra Repertory Theatre's Production of Grease Runs Through December 15th

Columbia, CA...Now though December 15th the Sierra Repertory Theatre is performing the classic musical Grease. The Historic Fallon House theatre in Columbia the production venue. It is about Rydell High's senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding "Burger Palace Boys" and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking "Pink Ladies" in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head "greaser" Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their "Summer Nights" as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as "Greased Lightnin'," "It's Raining on Prom Night," "Alone at the Drive-In Movie" recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation.
