San Andreas, CA... Meet Maggie – a sweet, declawed, white and gray tabby about 10 years of age. A big gal weighing almost 16 pounds, Maggie has been through a lot. She was originally brought to the shelter with her brother in 2015 because her owner was moving and unable to keep them. Maggie was then adopted by a wonderful woman who loves her very much but moving to an assisted living facility and cannot bring Maggie with her.

Eligibility for these clinics include Amador residents 50 years & older, Amador residents with chronic health conditions (age 18 & over), grocery store workers, agriculture workers, restaurant and food service workers, health care workers, first responders, emergency workers, educators, and community outreach workers, childcare providers and caregivers. Clinics will occur on March 23, 2021, March 24, 2021, March 25, 2021 & March 26, 2021.

Sacramento, CA... The California Department of Justice and Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson today announced a multistate settlement with Boston Scientific Corporation (Boston) to resolve allegations of deceptive marketing of its surgical mesh products for women. The settlement requires Boston to pay $188.6 million to 47 states and the District of Columbia to resolve allegations that it deceptively marketed transvaginal surgical mesh devices to patients. California’s share of the settlement is $19.3 million.

Women represent half of all workers, yet they are over 60 percent of our essential workers. Women of color are disproportionately represented in frontline jobs and comprise more than half of the workers in critical service fields such as housekeeping, personal care services, and nursing assistance.
