Ashley is Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week

San Andreas, CA...Meet Ashley, a very pretty two-year-old black and white tuxedo. Ashley is at the shelter because her owner passed away and there were no family members who could care for her. After a period of adjustment, Ashley is now friendly and loving -Temptations chicken cat treats being the way to her heart. She enjoys gentle petting, her silky coat being brushed, lap time and playing with her “feather on a string” toy. One of her favorite things, though, is simply sitting on a comfy cushion and gazing out the window. Ashley would likely do best in a calm environment with adults, perhaps older children and one without other cats or dogs.

Washington, DC...The renowned environmentalist and author, Rachel Carson, wrote in her seminal book Silent Spring that, “Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something healing in the repeated refrains of nature — the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.” Nowhere is the truth of her observation more evident than in America’s national parks, which are irreplaceable treasures that amaze us, inspire us, fill us with pride, and belong to all of us in equal measure.

Vallecito, CA...As our economy slowly reawakens from its Covid slumber many of us look in the mirror and see more of us in the reflection than we want to. I guess hibernating in humans makes you gain weight as opposed to losing it as our bear neighbors seem to. Yes, the Covid-15 is real and by some studies almost 60% of us have gained a few pounds. The American Psychological Association reported that one in 10 of us have gained over 50lbs of Covid weight. We decided to seek out some experts on how to reshape our Covid (At least we will blame it on that) enlarged body. We headed on over to Family 4 Fitness in Vallecito where they have been helping people get in shape, stay happy and healthy for 17 years. We spoke to a ripped and shredded 56 year old Kenny Lee.
