Panama City, FL...Four astronauts splashed down safely in the Gulf of Mexico Sunday, completing NASA’s first commercial crew, long-duration mission aboard the International Space Station. The return comes nearly six months after the crew members arrived at the microgravity laboratory and also marks the longest-duration mission of a crewed American spacecraft to date.

NASA astronauts Shannon Walker, left, Victor Glover, Mike Hopkins, and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) astronaut Soichi Noguchi, right are seen inside the SpaceX Crew Dragon Resilience spacecraft onboard the SpaceX GO Navigator recovery ship shortly after having landed in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Panama City, Florida, Sunday, May 2, 2021. NASA’s SpaceX Crew-1 mission was the first crew rotation flight of the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft and Falcon 9 rocket with astronauts to the International Space Station as part of the agency’s Commercial Crew Program. Violet is Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week!

Posted by: News_Desk on 05/02/2021 02:01 PM
San Andreas, CA... Meet Violet, a lovely Tortie and white adult with a longhaired, plume-like tail. Violet was brought to the shelter by a woman who said Violet had been hanging around her father’s property and was concerned for the kitty’s safety. Violet appears to be about 9 to 10 years of age and has a calm, quiet demeanor. Always eager for gentle pets and being brushed, she is very polite about letting you know when she would appreciate some attention. Violet is not a true lap cat, though, more of what we would call a snuggle up beside you and watch a good movie together kind of girl. Violet is also an exceptionally tidy cat, keeping herself and her area clean at all times.
