The Ragin' Cajun Festival is Back and Better Than Ever!

Posted by: News_Desk on 03/07/2022 07:22 PM
San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras Ragin Cajun Festival is back! After two years of dealing with Covid, we now have the go ahead for this year, Saturday April 30th, 11 - 5 on Main Street in San Andreas. In our first attempt in 2019 we got caught off guard, with it being a first time event and was suppose to rain all day, we expected around 600 attendees, to our amazement we got over 2000 and quickly ran out of food. Not this year, this year we are prepared to handle 3,000 people rain or shine. Instead of two food locations we have nine. We have three music stages with incredible bands including Beau Rumpus, the Funky Gators, Primitivo Rhythm Band, Jeramy Norris & the Blues Cartel and the Rusty Rockers all included for the advance ticket price of $5 or $10 at the gate. The Festival stretches the length of Main Street, into the Metropolitan Theater, around the Metropolitan Parking Lot, down into Foley Park and across the street into Neilsen Park and Parking Lot. We now have acquired two Large Capacity Commercial Crawfish Boilers for the Louisiana Crawfish being flown in the night before. Other food includes but not limited to: Crawfish, Beignets, Lobster Tails w/Noodles, Cajun Catfish, Hawaiian Shaved Ice, Jambalaya, Cajun Hot Links, BBQ Oysters, Beef/Chicken/Pork Sliders, Cajun Shrimp, Cajun Fries, Cajun Chicken and much more...Tickets are now on sale at Gooney's Bar & Grill, The Metropolitan Theater and the Chamber of Commerce Office in San Andreas, The Parlour Pub in Valley Springs or online at www.sanandreasrotary.com and as always, any San Andreas Rotarian you may come across. See You There!

Hey Good People!! Fresh Powder & Pure Mountain Fun at Bear Valley!!

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/06/2022 12:04 PM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! Mattly's weather forecast for Sunday. A crisp clear beautiful morning is on tap as the skies are clear and the stars are shinning bright at 5am for this mornings weather post. Temperature have risen slightly over the past 24hrs with 16F this morning as apposed to 12F yesterday morning. The daytime high will also increase today, coming in around 31F coupled with a Northeast wind in the single digits and gusting into the high teens. With the Eastern Pacific upper ridge influencing the West Coast we will see winds increase this evening with higher value around the low 30mph range. We will also see a few days of warming temps into the coming midweek before a short wave arrives allowing the surface gradient to continue to influence winds and increasing cloud cover. Skiing and riding yesterday had many smiles across the miles as the 5" of new snow kept everyone in the pow pocket for the day and even some small refills were on tap. The following weekend shows some activity from the 6-10day model runs but I'll address that later in the week as a few more days are needed to sus out a more solid forecast for that time frame.

Hey Good People!! Fresh Powder & Pure Mountain Fun at Bear Valley!!

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/05/2022 10:02 AM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! Mattly's weather forecast for Saturday. Well.......the system that is currently here is somewhat of a lack luster affair. We have picked up 4" of new snow overnight and 5" total for the storm so far. That's a far cry from the potential 12-18" but............it's snowing and we are all super stoked to see any snow fall from the sky. Today we may pick up 2-4" of new snow depending on how the low centered over Reno this morning moves southward and what it feels it would like to spin off in our direction. Cold air is in the mix today and tomorrow as the 5am temp reading at our study plot showed 12F so conditions should be ripe for some lite pow riding this morning. The high today will be around 22F with a West wind up to 10mph so riding and skiing should be great today with the freshening up of new snow. Sunday will bring cold overnight temps again with clearing skies as the low heads Southwest and the daytime high will be about 10F warmer than today and that trend looks to continue into Tuesday before another pool of cold air out of Canada shows face. The following weekend shows some activity from the 6-10day model runs but I'll address that later in the week as a few more days are needed to sus out a more solid forecast for that time frame......

If you find a kindness rock around calaveras keep it for a while and then leave it for someone else to find.
