And thankfully, music returns to Calaveras County on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. with the Calaveras Arts Council’s long-standing admission-free Music in the Parks concert series.

Murphys, CA...120 Stomp Teams will take the stage in Murphys, CA for our annual fundraising event. Returning teams get 1st access to register the week of July 5th and remaining spaces open the week of July 19th. For now....Save the Date for Saturday, October 2nd 9:00-6:00, get your team ready, pick out your costumes and begin to plan a wonderful weekend in Calaveras Wine Country during our harvest season. While we held our 1st Virtual Grape Stomp last year due to the pandemic, we are thrilled to be back at the park for our 28th annual event. This fundraiser supports our high school scholarship program, local parks, and community organizations.

Several local Businesses took home honors and Mark Twain Medical Center took home the top award. From the Calaveras Chamber..."Mark Twain Medical Center receiving the Business of the Year award for 2020. We are so grateful to all the heroes of MTMC who kept our community safe, and cared for our loved ones in such scary times.

ISO issues Flex Alert for Energy Conservation Tomorrow as Extreme Heat Forecast & Consumer Help will be Key to Preventing Outages |

Folsom, CA...The California Independent System Operator (ISO), with extreme heat forecast for much of California and the Southwest, has issued a statewide Flex Alert to encourage electricity conservation tomorrow from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. to reduce stress on the grid and avoid power outages. When past Flex Alerts have been called, consumers have answered the call and cut back their electricity use. Those actions have helped California avoid or limit power outages that can, if conditions persist or worsen, become necessary when demand for electricity outstrips capacity.

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras County Announces the Opening of Cooling Centers Thursday Through Saturday Ahead of Extreme Heat. The U.S. National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for much of the county Thursday through Saturday. Older adults, young children, and people with mental illness and chronic conditions are at highest risk of heat related illness and death. Each year about 600 people in the United States are killed by extreme heat.

The Calaveras County Board of Education is honored to have a highly qualified addition to the board. Janet Jones Sterling was provisionally appointed to the board to represent Trustee Area 4 on June 7, 2021. Sterling will serve the provisional appointment until the term ends in December 2022. Trustee Area 4 serves the communities of Altaville, Angels Camp, Carson Hill, Copperopolis and Vallecito.
