Calaveras Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Honored with Missing Persons Annual Service Award |

San Andreas, CA...We are pleased to announce that Lt. Tim Sturm of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded the 2022 Missing and Unidentified Persons Conference Annual Service Award by the National Criminal Justice Training Center. The award was presented at the National Missing and Unidentified Persons Conference in Las Vegas, NV on April 25, 2022. Sheriff Rick DiBasilio, Undersheriff Jim Macedo, and Sergeant Rudi Leon were in attendance with Lt. Sturm.

Angels Camp – Junior and senior Bret Harte U.S. History students learn firsthand the experiences of those who have served our Nation. Veterans and servicemen share their stories, bringing history alive for the students. The United States Servicemen/Veterans Presentation event has been a 24-year tradition at Bret Harte High School (BHHS), headed up by history teacher Jennifer Truman.

Angels Camp, CA...On Saturday the ribbon was cut on the beautiful new Jumping Frog Jubilee Exhibition at the Angels Camp Museum. The Calaveras County Fairgrounds & Angels Camp Museum collaborated the interactive exhibit. It traces the path of Mark Twain's legendar tale about "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" to the first Frog Jump on Main Street in 1928 to the present day.

Sonora, CA...The 63rd annual Mother Lode Round-Up Parade is Saturday May 7, 2022. The parade will start at 10:00 am and will last approximately three hours. Although open containers will be temporarily allowed between 10:00 am and the parades end within the cordoned area of the parade, glass containers are strictly prohibited. Several streets will be closed so the community is encouraged to plan ahead. Detours will be posted for those streets that will be closed. The following are the major street closures: S. Washington Street between Restano and Hwy 108 will be closed at 8:00 am. N. Washington St. from Snell/Elkin to S. Washington St. at Restano will be closed at 9:30 am. Closures for all side streets between Stewart St. and Green St. will commence between 8:30 am - 9:30 am. Portions of Snell St. and School St. will also be closed. Westbound Mono Way traffic will be detoured onto Stewart St. at Restano. Vehicle traffic seeking access to Stockton Rd will need to use Hwy 108 at the Mono Way onramp.

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras Ragin Cajun Festival is back! After two years of Covid, we now have the go ahead for this year, Saturday April 30th, 11 - 5 on Main Street in San Andreas. In our first attempt in 2019 we got caught off guard, being a first time event and supposed to rain all day, we expected around 600 attendees, to our amazement we got over 2000 and quickly ran out of food. Not this year, this year we are prepared to handle whatever is thrown at us, rain or shine.
