The fair eventually found a permanent home outside of Angels Camp. In the spirit of the old movie classic "State Fair," the Calaveras County Fair is a blend of entertainment, exhibits, livestock, arena events, great food and our signature event, the International Frog Jump. Columbia, CA...Amidst the rugged oak woodlands of the Sierra Nevada foothills lies Columbia State Historic Park - once a busy, brawling gold rush town. Columbia SHP lies within the boundaries of a real town, Columbia, CA! In 1945, the State Legislature made the site a State Historic Park in order to preserve a typical Gold Rush town, an example of one of the most colorful eras in American history. A bill was passed appropriating $50,000 to be matched by the public to acquire the land and buildings in the old business section of Columbia. On July 15, 1945, Governor Earl Warren moved his office to Columbia for one day. There he signed SB 1256 creating Columbia State Park.

San Andreas, CA...California has already experienced an unusually early start to fire season amidst an ongoing drought and historically low rainfall and reservoir levels. While wildfires are a natural part of California’s landscape, the fire season in California and across the west is starting earlier and ending later each year. Warmer spring and summer temperatures, reduced snowpack, and earlier spring snowmelt create longer and more intense dry seasons that increase moisture stress on vegetation and make forests more susceptible to severe wildfire.
