Murphys, CA… Black Sheep Winery arrived in Murphys with the 1984 harvest. From that first harvest we produced our 1984 Amador Zinfandel. The wine was styled in a big, bold way like nobody else could do. That’s what makes us Black Sheep; we’re different from the rest of the flock. We feature small batches of limited release wines handcrafted from high quality grapes grown in Calaveras and Amador Counties. We produce about 2,500 cases of wine per year, specializing in Zinfandels and Rhone varietals.

Summer Starts This Wednesday in Valley Springs with the Calaveras Arts Council’s Music in the Parks |

San Andreas, CA...One of the great joys of summer in Calaveras County is the Music in the Parks concert series presented by the Calaveras County Arts Council. Ten bands will play in ten towns throughout the county, from the foothills to up-country and the in between. Each Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., a different town will host a concert.

San Andreas, CA...On June 2, 2022 the Angels-Murphys Rotary Club honored the outstanding achievements of several local law enforcement officers. The Sheriff’s Office is very appreciative of this annual event and opportunity to recognize the commitment and service of our deputies. This year, Calaveras County Deputy Sheriff Jonathan Brown received the Deputy of the Year award. Please join us in congratulating him on his achievement.

Sardella Prescribed Fire Training |

San Andreas, CA...The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will conduct a prescribed fire training on the Sardella burn site in Tuolumne County, adjacent to the community of Tuolumne. Smoke from the project will be visible from Sonora and surrounding areas. The goal of the prescribed burn is to maintain firefighter readiness within a controlled environment for firefighting techniques with live fire.

Arnold, CA...You can rent your summer fun whether it be E-Gravel, E-Step Through, E-Mountain, Hardtail MTB, Full Suspension MTB, Fat Tire or more. While we do accept walk-ins, contacting us ahead of time to make your reservation is the best way to ensure that we have a bike ready for you in the correct size and style as soon as you arrive at our shop. If you rent a bike and decide that you can’t live without it, we’ll gladly put your rental fee towards the purchase of a new bike. Take home a new bicycle within 30 days of your bike rental and we’ll credit you up to one week’s worth of rental fees!
