Red Ribbon Week Say No to Drugs Poster Contest

San Andreas, CA...October 23rd through October 31st is Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon week is a drug awareness program held annually during the month of October. The Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, and other county departments participate by hosting a coloring contest for students in grades 1st through 8th. Each year the theme of the poster changes. This year the theme is “Celebrate Life. Live drug-Free.” Posters should be submitted within student’s school by Tuesday October 25th.

Columbia College Presents Art Exhibition Extended Through November 18th

Columbia, CA...“Pain and Beyond” – a collection of oil and mixed media paintings, completed between 2011 – 2018 by Columbia College Art Professor, Li Ching Accurso, is now on display through October 18th, in the Columbia College Manzanita Building Rotunda (11600 Columbia College Drive, Sonora). The upper level of the Manzanita Building is open to the public Monday – Friday from 8am to 5pm. During the period Li Ching worked on these pieces, she was experimenting with materials combined with oil, such as glitter, confetti, and fabric.

California State Parks and CAL FIRE Expected to Begin Prescribed Burns at Calaveras Big Trees State Park on October 20th

Arnold, CA....California State Parks in cooperation with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) announced plans today to conduct prescribed burns in Calaveras Big Trees State Park with work expected to begin as early as October 20, 2022. This is part of a series of prescription burns planned for the park this fall.

Sonora, CA...Help us Find a Missing Juvenile! Have you seen this missing Juvenile, Emily Hahn. Emily was last seen Saturday evening at 10:00pm on Sawmill Flat Road wearing gray sweat pants, a light colored top and black and red Nike tennis shoes. Emily is 16 years old, 5”7’ and approximately 120 lbs. Anyone who has seen or heard from Emily or knows of Emily’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact Detective Reese at 209-533-5815.
