Murphys, CA...Black Sheep Winery arrived in Murphys with the 1984 harvest. From that first harvest we produced our 1984 Amador Zinfandel. The wine was styled in a big, bold way like nobody else could do. That's what makes us Black Sheep; we're different from the rest of the flock. We feature small batches of limited release wines handcrafted from high quality grapes grown in Calaveras and Amador Counties. We produce about 2,500 cases of wine per year, specializing in Zinfandels and Rhone varietals.

Back in the early 90’s, when Shawn was selling out of the back of his truck as “The Eddy Mart”, the most important items to have on hand were life jackets, river shorts, sandals and river knives. Oh yes, and a few things the rafting customers would want, t-shirts, hats, sunscreen, etc. It became obvious that The Eddy Mart was getting too big to operate out of a garage when the whitewater kayaks came. It was time for a storefront. That’s when providence arrived on the scene.
Angels Camp, CA...What is a Color Me Green Run? The Color Me Green 5K Run is a state-wide service learning opportunity specific to the improvements of health. With the support of adult leaders, youth organize and execute a 5K run in their community. In Calaveras, this event is hosted by the Calaveras Wranglers and Copper Hills 4-H community clubs. The event is set to be held on March 31, 2019 at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds and begins at 2 p.m. This event is free to 4-H members and $5 to other participants.

Murphys, CA...The Calaveras Winegrape Alliance is launching the first ever poster art contest to celebrate our 26th anniversary as well as the newly branded “Murphys Grape Stomp and Harvest Festival”. Produced by the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance, Murphys Grape Stomp has been one of the regions most popular events enjoyed by generations of local residence and visitors alike who attend year after year to compete in California’s oldest, largest grape stomp competition. This year, the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance will be adding more harvest related activities and events to give people an immersive look into the Sierra Foothills harvest season and winemaking processes by celebrating all things grape harvest with vineyard tours, live music in the park, harvest cooking demonstrations, games, wine activities and more.

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! With the recent storm exiting East we picked up 15″ of new snow and well……yesterday in the Lwr Mtn everyone had one of the best days of the season! 37F looks to be the high today with a SW wind from 5-7mph. High pressure is parked off the coast and SUnny skies are ahead. We are set up for a stellar weekend of skiing/riding as Saturday will be sunny with a high of 43F and Sunday comes in the same albeit a bit warmer at 48F. A return of unsettled weather will arrive April 1st(no joke there) and bring warmer temps with it. Conditions are amazing currently and with 480″ of snow so far this season we look to have awesome conditions well into spring. Our closing date is currently April 21st. Don’t forget about our 2 tickets for $99 every Tuesday and 50% off lift tickets for students and Emergency Responders. Come check out our “Pure Mtn Fun” as we have lots of it going on!
