Hey Good People!! Over a Foot of New Snow on the Way to Skyline Bear Valley!!

Posted by: thepinetree on 01/03/2021 07:00 PM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! As the approaching system moves closer today we’ll see cloudy skies and a lite SSW wind. Warm air ahead of the storm will keep snow elevations around 6500′ initially then early Monday morning the cold air aloft will creep in and bring snow levels down to the 3500′ range. 7-11″ of new snow is expected to fall during the day Monday with another 3-7″ falling Monday night before the system heads East. Winds will increase for Monday as the surface gradient tightens so average winds values will be in the 20-30mph range with gusting to the mid 50’s throughout the day. High pressure and dry weather return Tuesday before the next pulse shows face on Wednesday. Stay tuned……..

Posted by: thepinetree on 01/01/2021 10:27 AM
Bear Valley, CA...The Bear Valley Adventure Company (BVAC) is excited to offer cross country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, and tubing experiences for the 2020/2021 winter season. Since COVID-19 is alive and well, we have instituted some new rules in order to keep everyone safe. Help keep the Bear Valley winter wonderland open by supporting the following changes: General: Do not visit BVAC if you are feeling ill; this includes our groomed trails. Masks covering your nose and mouth are required inside the store, and anywhere social distancing (minimum 6 feet separation from others) cannot be maintained. On busy days, such as weekends and holidays: Be prepared to wait outside the store to maintain healthy spacing indoors. Plan to dress accordingly.

Hey Good People!! Great Conditions & More Pure Mountain Fun on the Way!!

Posted by: thepinetree on 12/30/2020 10:38 AM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! High pressure again will be in effect for most of today before a weak system pushes through tonight and into Thursday. 1-3″ of new snow is expected to fall tonight before exiting on Thursday as high pressure will again be in place over the NorCal forecast area. Snowfall elevations will be down into the 3500′ range for this system. The next wave of snow looks to arrive around New Years and models are showing a more robust system at that time with initial snowfall elevations being around the 5500-6000′ range as warm air ahead of the system will influence snowfall as well as winds. The weather patterns are looking much more active for the time frame after New Years so let’s keep our fingers crossed for some good snowfall and POW skiing/riding! Stay tuned……..

Public Workshop to Focus on Water Conveyance Needs and Funding Options in Northern California

Posted by: News_Desk on 12/30/2020 11:27 AM
Sacramento, CA... The California Water Commission is conducting a series of public workshops as part of its efforts to assess a potential state role in financing conveyance projects that could help meet needs in a changing climate. The Commission’s goal with these workshops is to learn from diverse voices across the state. Participants from the region are encouraged to share their perspective on conveyance infrastructure needs and priorities, effective partnerships, public benefits of conveyance, possible criteria to assess resilience, efforts in preparing for changing hydrology, and effective financing mechanisms. The workshops are not associated with the pending proposal to improve conveyance through the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.

Sprinkles is Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week!

Posted by: News_Desk on 12/30/2020 11:42 AM
San Andreas, CA... Meet Sprinkles - a lovely, medium-haired, dilute tortie. Extraordinarily friendly and outgoing, Sprinkles loves meeting new people and will likely take on the role of chief greeter in her new home. She enjoys being petted and brushed, too, though Sprinkles is not quite a lap cat (more what one might call a lay down beside you and snuggle up kitty). Sometimes a little forceful in demanding attention, Sprinkles will give little “love nips” until she is petted. For this reason, a caring home without very young children would be best. With her enormous green eyes, soft fur and plume-like tail, this sweet girl is bound to steal your heart. Why not stop by and see her today?

Governor Newsom Unveils California’s Safe Schools for All Plan

Posted by: News_Desk on 12/30/2020 12:39 PM
Sacramento, CA... Governor Gavin Newsom today released the State Safe Schools for All plan, California’s framework to support schools to continue operating safely in-person and to expand the number of schools safely resuming in-person instruction. Informed by growing evidence of the decreased risks and increased benefits of in-person instruction  especially for our youngest students – Governor Newsom is advancing a strategy that will help create safe learning environments for students and safe workplaces for educators and other school staff. The plan was developed in partnership with the Legislature, and the Governor will propose an early action package to ensure schools have the resources necessary to successfully implement key safety precautions and mitigation measures. Components of the plan will be launched in the coming weeks.
