Murphys, CA...Cantamos with Michela Macfarlane: Michela and Cantamos highlight their musical dexterity by moving from traditional Latin songs, and musicals, to contemporary favorites. Their music moves seamlessly from English to Italian, Spanish to French, Portuguese to Hawaiian and back again. Michela Macfarlane spent ten years steeped exclusively in baroque music. To expand her singing world she moved to the realms of jazz, pop, and Latin sounds.

San Andreas, CA...The 3rd annual Calaveras Wine, Cheese and Olive Festival is back bigger and better than ever hosted at the Metropolitan in San Andreas, CA! Sept 14 starting at 4:00 PM $25 per ticket in advance, $30 at the door if available. Attendee receives a commemorative wine glass and glass holder plate and can taste all the food and wine they wish. There will be 3 live bands inside and out at the Metropolitan Theater in San Andreas. There will be a number of local restaurants there serving free hors d'oeuvres for all attendees. Tickets available at Gooney's Bar & Grille, Pizza Factory & the Chamber of Commerce Office all of which are in San Andreas or online at www.sanandreasrotary.com. Proceeds will benefit Calaveras Meals on Wheels.
Sonora & Arnold, CA...The Evan Walker Memorial Poker Run raises funds for special education programs in Tuolumne and Calaveras County Schools. The run begins at the Sonora Moose Lodge, check in 9:30, free coffee and donuts with bar open by 9:00 for purchases. Kick stands up at 10:30.

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce held its fourth annual State of the County Breakfast on Friday, September 6, 2019 at The Metropolitan in San Andreas. Doors opened at 7:00am with the program from 7:30am till 9:00am. This event served as a forum to highlight Calaveras County’s accomplishments over the last year and discuss goals for the future. San Andreas – Local high school students are getting the inside scoop on current career opportunities in the Mother Lode through this year’s Career Technical Education (CTE) project presentations. The first of six CTE presentations, a seminar on Health Care Careers took place Wednesday, September 11 at Calaveras High School (CHS). Guest speakers were Mark Twain Medical Center’s Chief Nurse Executive and Vice President of Patient Care Services Katherine McCoy and (no relation) General Surgeon and Chief of Staff Dr. Andrew McCoy.

Hathaway Pines, CA...The Stanislaus National Forest provides the following information about planned prescribed burns on the forest. Prescribed Fire Name / Ranger District: Moore-Bellfour Underburn, Calaveras Ranger District. General and Specific Location: Project area is located along Forest Road 7N09 (Cabbage Patch Road) south of Salt Springs Reservoir. Township 7 North, Range 16 East, Section 12 Smoke may be visible from Hwy. 4 and in the surrounding communities. Fire managers are working closely with local air districts and the California Air Resources Board to mitigate the effects of smoke on the public. Murphys, CA...From the CCAR..."We are having the 2nd Annual CCAR Rib Cook Off this Saturday hosted by the Calaveras County Association of Realtors and CCAR Charities. Proceeds benefit grants for First Time Home Buyers in Calaveras County. It is in the Murphys Park starting at 3 PM with live music featuring Plan B Acoustic from 4 to 6. We have 10 BBQ Teams competing who will be there all day prepping and BBQing and then presenting their best ribs to the panel of judges. Judging begins at 2:30 PM Sharp and we plan to announce the winners at 3:30.
