San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center presents the 21st Annual Fall Health Fair on Saturday, September 28 from 7 a.m. to noon at the Hospital Campus in San Andreas. “Participation in this event is just as enthusiastic now as it was when we started over two decades ago,” notes Doug Archer, MTMC President and CEO. “It’s a tradition – a great opportunity to find out about the latest in local resources for health care, wellness and social services.” He explains this Health Fair includes an especially wide-range of health and wellness professionals, nonprofit entities, and government agencies that collaborate in providing education, support services and lifestyle tools to the local community.

Arnold, CA...From the owner..."Dear Pine Tree Readers, I’d like to inform the community to be extra vigilant if they see suspicious activity in their neighborhood. Sometime between Sept 2nd and 6th, my home on Elizabeth Drive in Blue Lake Springs was broken into and many of my cherished possessions were stolen. Amongst the stolen items were 3 guitars that I purchased as a young man in the 1970’s and 1980’s. They had tremendous sentimental value. They also stole newer power tools (mostly Dewalt brand), chain saws, guitar amp, LCD TV, surround sound and stereo equipment, even some furniture and much more.

The Town Hall will be held at San Andreas Town Hall, 24 Church Hill Road, San Andreas, CA. The Insurance Commissioner will present about the current state of getting and maintaining homeowner’s insurance in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI). This informational discussion will provide statewide trend data, consumer protection laws update and risk reduction through prevention and mitigation. The public is invited to attend and share personal experiences with insurance nonrenewal and rate increases with the Commissioner and his staff. Tom Scheller showed us several options including the W.A.S.P. Fire protection system. The W.A.S.P. Wildfire Protection Kit installs either on your ridge ends or clips directly onto your gutter. It will fit on either OG or Facia gutter styles. The kit comes with 2-25 foot industrial quality hoses, two sprinkler heads, two gutter mounts, and two ridge end clips. Basically, you can quickly clip these onto your ridge or gutter using a piece of 3/4″ PVC (not supplied), turn them on, and have your roof soaked to help prevent ignition during fires. Depending on water pressure, these can have up to a 34′ radius.
