Armed Robbery By Former Employee at Sonora Walmart |

Sonora, CA...From the Sonora Police Department.."On 01-10-2020 at about 0200 hours a male, identified as Joe Michael Savaii, age 26 of Sonora, entered Walmart and showed a firearm to an on duty manager. Savaii then made the employee give him an undisclosed amount of cash from the money count area. Savaii was a former employee of Walmart. No one was injured during the incident.

Angels Camp, CA...Angels Camp Police Department K9 Thor officially retired last night at the City Council meeting. K9 Thor joined the Angels Camp Police Department in 2016 after working for the Stockton Police Department. Thor is now 9 years old and will enjoy his retirement with his handler, Angels Camp Police Department Officer McDearmid, as her loving pet.

Manteca Man Arrested on DUI & Other Charges After Chase |

San Andreas, CA...On 1/02/2020, at 2212 hours, CHP was requested by the Calaveras County Sheriff office for assistance with a vehicle pursuit. They had attempted to stop a intoxicated driver on SR-26 near Warren Rd. The vehicle initially stopped on the right shoulder then the driver fled in the vehicle from the Calaveras County Sheriff Deputy. Officers from San Andreas CHP and a Stockton CHP K-9 unit responded to the area as well as a helicopter from the San Joaquin Sheriff Department.

Burson, CA...In response to reports of thefts and burglaries in the Burson area, Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputies have been conducting increased extra patrols. This method of community oriented policing also includes extensive analysis of the criminal activity. In some cases, a pattern or patterns of activity has been identified which has allowed the Sheriff’s Office to most efficiently utilize its limited resources.

Sonora Man Arrested on Vehicle Theft, Weapon & Warrant Charges |

Sonora, CA...On January 3, 2020, at approximately 4:47am, CHP officers responded to a call of a white disabled 1999 Ford F-350 pickup that was blocking the traffic lanes of Alder Lane at Lower Hillview Drive. When the CHP officers arrived, they located the vehicle and 23-year-old Skyler Dickson of Sonora. While they contacted Mr. Dickson, the officers were advised the Ford was recently reported stolen out of Sonora. Mr. Dickson was detained and during a search of his person, a loaded firearm was located in his front pant pocket.

DUI & Felony Resisting Arrest Causing Injury Charges for Sonora Woman |

Sonora, CA...On January 4, 2020, just after midnight, CHP Officers were requested by a Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputy to assist with a DUI evaluation. After they arrived on scene, they contacted the deputy and 53-year-old Ardella Vanzuiden out of Sonora. A CHP officer administered a series of Field Sobriety Test to Ms. Vanzuiden and she was determined to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Sonora Area CHP office. While at the CHP office, she became combative and performed a rear kick, which struck one of the CHP officers.
