ACPD Seeking Public's Help In Solving Auto Burglaries & Vandalism Case |

Angels Camp, CA...On 01/17/16, at approximately 6:35 PM, officers were dispatched to a report of two window smash auto burglaries on the 1200 block of S. Main Street. In both cases the vehicles had windows smashed out and purses removed. Other items of value, including a cell phone and an iPad were left behind in one of the vehicles, indicating that the suspect(s) were in a hurry and specifically looking for items known to contain valuables. There are some investigative leads that are being followed, including possible video surveillance footage.

New York, NY...Joaquin Archivaldo Guzman Loera, known by various aliases including “El Chapo,” has arrived in the United States to face criminal charges in connection with his leadership of the Mexican organized crime syndicate known as the Sinaloa Cartel. Guzman Loera is charged in six separate indictments throughout the United States; however, the indictment filed in the Eastern District of New York contains a provision that he must first enter the United States in that district to preserve the Eastern District of New York indictment. As such, Guzman Loera landed at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip, New York...

Two Apprehended After Shotgun Incident At Sonora Apartment |

Sonora, CA...In the afternoon on Sunday January 8th, a physical altercation occurred at an apartment on Chukar Circle in Sonora. The fight apparently stemmed due to using racial slurs. After the fight, several people left the apartment in a white SUV. Two of the occupants in the vehicle were identified as 20 year old Zachary Zimmerman and 19 year old Ethan Pomeroy both of Sonora. Witnesses reported that Zimmerman yelled that he would be, “Back with a blast.”

Wanted Man Captured After Attempt To Flee |

Sonora, CA...On Wednesday, January 18th, just after 630 a.m., Officer Memmer was traveling eastbound on Stockton Road when he noticed 30-year-old Levi Elden Coon walking on the roadway edge. Officer Memmer was aware of outstanding warrants for Coon’s arrest and stopped to contact him. As Officer Memmer exited his patrol car, Coon took off running on foot.

Twain Harte Man Under Arrest After Threatening Hospital Staff |

Sonora, CA...On Tuesday, January 17th, just before 630 p.m., the Sonora Police Department arrested 28-year-old Steven William Gentis of Twain Harte for Criminal Threats. Sonora Police Officers had taken a report alleging that Gentis threatened to return to the hospital emergency room on a specific date with a gun. Other comments were made by Gentis indicating his intent to cause great bodily harm or death to multiple individuals at the hospital.

Sonora, CA...Just prior to noon on Saturday, January 14th, the Sonora Police Department was called to the Grocery Outlet market for a report of a shoplifter. When Officer Bowly arrived, he was directed to a female, later identified as 30-year-old Stephany Marie Shelman of Sonora. Shelman initially provided Officer Bowly with a false name and denied being in possession of stolen property.

Fisticuffs Ensued After Stolen iPhone Leads Victims To Thief On Hwy 108 |

Sonora, CA...On Saturday morning just before 9:30 AM, Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a physical fight on Highway 108 near Woods Way. Jesse Newton, a suspect in a stolen vehicle reported to CHP that morning, was located by the owner of the vehicle. The victim and his friend caught up with Newton who was walking and carrying the victim's black bag. While the victim went to get a cell phone to call law enforcement, Newton retrieved a pair of metal knuckles and struck the friend in the back of the head. The friend then punched Newton and held him on the ground until law enforcement arrived.
