California Department of Justice Announces Results of Investigation into Large-Scale Drug Trafficking Operation

Merced, CA...The California Department of Justice (DOJ) announced the results of a search warrant operation in Huntington Beach by the DOJ-led Merced Area Gang & Narcotic Enforcement Team (MAGNET) that led to the arrest of Luis Armando Romero Jr. of Turlock. Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of California Phillip A. Talbert announced today that Romero Jr. faces a one-count indictment charging him with distribution of methamphetamine based on an alleged sale in Merced County earlier this year.

San Andreas, CA...On April 20, 2021, at approximately 1514 hours, Narciso F. Sanchez was driving his 1953 Chevy pickup northbound on SR-49 north of SR-12 approaching a Ford F150. Bryan D. Bowman was driving his Ford southbound on SR-49 north of SR-12, approaching the 1953 Chevy. Due to unknown reasons, Mr. Sanchez allowed his pickup to travel over the solid double yellow lines into the southbound lane, into the direct path of the F150. As a result the vehicles collided head on.

San Andreas, CA...On April 8th and 15th, 2021, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Unit served search warrants at two unrelated illegal marijuana cultivations sites in Calaveras County. On April 8th, 2021, a search warrant for illegal marijuana cultivation was served in the 10800 block of Milton Road in Jenny Lind. Deputies seized 1,246 growing marijuana plants and over 53 pounds of processed marijuana. The combined estimated value of the seized marijuana exceeds $909,300. The marijuana plants were being cultivated in 4 large “hoop house” structures on the property. Two suspects were issued citations at the scene.
Medical Examiner Finds USCP Officer Brian Sicknick Died of Natural Causes

Washington, DC...The USCP accepts the findings from the District of Columbia's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner that Officer Brian Sicknick died of natural causes. This does not change the fact Officer Sicknick died in the line of duty, courageously defending Congress and the Capitol. The Department continues to mourn the loss of our beloved colleague. The attack on our officers, including Brian, was an attack on our democracy.
Injury DUI Collision Leads to Arrest of Merced Woman

Arnold, CA...On Saturday, April- 17, 2021, at approximately 1005 hours, Party #1 (Buchanan) was driving a 2006 Honda Civic westbound on SR-4, west of the entrance of Calaveras Big Trees State Park, at an unknown speed. Party #2 (Sullivan) was driving a 2004 Ford F-250 eastbound on SR-4, west of the entrance to Calaveras Big Trees State Park. For reasons yet to be determined, Party #1 allowed her vehicle to cross over the center line, and into the path of Party #2's pickup. Both vehicles collided head-on in the eastbound lane.
