Railroad Flat, CA...The official fire report is in for the vegetation fire that occurred on Monday, March 24th at 3820 Prussian Hill Road. There were no injuries. Cause is escaped debris burn. Paloma, CA....The official fire report is in for the vegetation fire that occurred on Monday March 24th at 4101 Paloma Road. Total acreage involved was 3 acres. There were no injuries reported. Estimated dollar damage is $600. Cause is an escaped debris burn. Full CAL fire report enclosed....

San Andreas Area is currently investigating a Motorcycle collision that occurred at an unknown time but after 5 PM on Saturday March 22, 2008 eastbound Murphys Grade Road, approximately 2.2 miles east of Lower French Gulch Road. Earl E Wiggins, a 61 year old male from Hathaway Pines, was last seen at his work in Angels Camp at 5 PM on Saturday. He was riding a black 1997 Harley Davidson “Ultra Classic” with a helmet......

Murphys, CA...Another fatality has occurred along Murphys Grade Road. Authorities are recovering the body of a deceased male motorcyclist that perished when his Harley Davidson left the roadway near the spot where a young local Iraq Veteran passed away when the car he and some young friends were riding in went into the creek last year. We will have additional information on deceased as it becomes available. It appears he may have passed away a couple of days ago...

Highway 108 Snowmobile Access to Temporarily Close

Sonora, CA…The Forest Service today announced that beginning March 24th through March 28, CalTrans will start its normal seasonal snow plowing on Highway 108. Buring the time required for this snow plowing operation, Highway 108 will be temporarily closed to all vehicles, including snowmobiles, from the Sno-Park gate to Sonora Pass. Once the road is open to Eagle Meadow Road (5N01), snowmobiles will be able to access riding opportunities into the Eagle Meadow area, while snow conditions allow. Highway 108....

Personal-Use Fuelwood Season to Begin

Sonora, CA...The Forest Service today announced that starting Wednesday, March 26, Personal Use Fuelwood Permits will be available for purchase at Stanislaus National Forest offices. Fuelwood season officially begins Tuesday, April 1 and will continue to approximately November 30, depending on weather and road conditions.....

North Beardsley Prescribed Burn to Begin on Tuesday March 25th

On March 25, 2008 the Summit Ranger District, Stanislaus National Forest,will begin prescribed burning on sections of the 1,575 acre North Beardsley Underburn project, located approximately 5 miles northwest of Strawberry, along Forest Service road 5N02. Veterans and Citizens Turn Out to Support Our Troops

Angels Camp, CA....Veterans and Citizens from throughout Calaveras County showed their support for ur troops today as this is the 5 year Anniversary of the Iraq War. The decorated the corner of Murphys Grade Road and Hwy 49 with flags, banners and signs asking people to "honk in support of our troops." The sounds of horns filled the air for a god portion of the day. When we stopped by we spoke with Suzette Glanville, one of the the supporters, who has a son was in the first wave to enter Baghdad and is currently serving in the Middle East right now....

Vallecito, CA...CHP is reporting a minor injury Collision at Parrots Ferry Road just South of Hwy 4. A 61 year old Murphys man was traveling northbound on Parrots Ferry and was attempting to negotiate a turn, due to his state of intoxication his car drifted into the southbound lane and nearly struck an oncoming car.
