San Andreas CHP Investigated 8 Fatal Collisions In 2016 |

San Andreas, CA...Unfortunately, San Andreas CHP Officers investigated 8 fatal traffic collisions in 2016. In those 8 collisions 9 people lost their lives, 3 of the drivers were under the influence of alcohol, 2 of the fatal victims were passengers in the vehicle, 1 of the fatal victims was operating a motorcycle, 2 of the victims were not properly restrained by a seat belt or car seat, the youngest victim was 3 and the oldest was 79.

Calaveras County Search & Rescue & Sheriffs Department Rescue Lost Hiker |

Camp Connell, CA...On January 03, 2017 at about 0400hrs, Calaveras County Sheriff dispatch received a cellular 911 call from a person stating he had become lost while hiking in the snow. The conversation was brief, and subsequent attempts to call back were unsuccessful. The caller was later identified as Eric Vanwambeke of San Francisco, California. During the 911 call dispatchers learned that Vanwambeke had started hiking at noon on the previous day in a snowy area east of Camp Connell. Sheriff Dispatchers were also able to triangulate the caller’s approximate location using cell tower information. The location of Vanwambeke was believed to be approximately 3 miles north-west of Highway 4 on a forest road which was covered by snow.

CHP New Years Maximum Enforcement Period |

San Andreas,CA...The New Year’s MEP (Maximum Enforcement Period) began at 6:00 pm Friday, December 30st and continued until 11:59 pm Monday, January 2nd. In Calaveras County the California Highway Patrol Officers handled 6 accidents. Two of these collisions resulted in the drivers being arrested for Driving Under the Influence. Both of these collision resulted with injuries sustained only to the DUI drivers. The remainder of the collisions was non-injuries.

Be On The Lookout For Suspect Who Stole Toyota Yaris From Rite Aide Employee! |

Angels Camp, CA...On Jan 01, 2017, at approximately 5 PM, an unknown suspect entered the Rite Aide in Angels Camp and proceeded to the employee locker room. The suspect cut a lock off of an employee locker and removed car keys and the remote key fob for the car. He exited the store and used the key fob to locate and unlock the car and then drove away in the victim's vehicle. The suspect was in and out of the store in a matter of several minutes, and is unknown to employees at Rite Aide.

Injuries To Sheep Ranch Man In DUI Rollover |

San Andreas, CA...A 23 year old Sheep Ranch man was driving his vehicle westbound on SR-12 west of SR-49 at approximately 50 MPH. Due to his level of intoxication, Trotter allowed his vehicle to drift off the right side of the roadway. Trotter over-corrected to the left, crossed into the eastbound lane, and lost control of his vehicle. Trotter's vehicle subsequently exited the north side of the roadway and overturned down a steep embankment. Trotter was not wearing his safety belt and was partially ejected during the collision. Trotter was later arrested for Misdemeanor DUI at the scene. Due to the extent of his injuries, he was transported to Doctor's Medical Center Modesto for treatment.
