20 Year Old Sonora Woman Lost Her Life in Collision Near Stockton Road & Hwy 108 |

Sonora, CA...A Sonora woman died in a single-vehicle collision yesterday evening. The 20-year-old driver of an eastbound 1998 Jeep Cherokee was ejected when the vehicle overturned on the Stockton Road onramp off Highway 108.
The Police Department received the 9-1-1 call at approximately 6:38 pm and arrived on scene at 6:40 pm. Despite lifesaving efforts made by a citizen, law enforcement, and ultimately fire/medical personnel, the driver sadly succumb to her injuries. She was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

From a missing child to burglary suspects, security footage is a primary item of evidence sought-out by deputies and investigators. In some circumstances, the need for rapid collection is paramount.

Sonora Man Arrested for Targeting Kids on Social Media in Sex for Drugs Bust. |

Tuolumne County High-Risk Supervision Team (HRST), consisting of Sheriff’s Deputies and Probation Officers, shut down an operation in which a Sonora man used the social media app Snapchat to trade sex acts and explicit photos for drugs. On Tuesday, HRST followed up on a tip of suspicious behavior involving 30-year-old David Pacheco of Sonora. Pacheco, actively on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS), was contacted at his home in Crystal Falls. HRST conducted a search of David’s home, vehicle, and storage unit.

Hours-Long Police Standoff Ends with Convicted Felon in Custody |

South Lake Tahoe, CA...Last Night, South Lake Tahoe Police were involved in an hours-long standoff in the 3700 block of Alder Ave. The suspect, 55-year-old Scott Nevin, drove up from Santa Cruz County after a search warrant was executed on his home by the Santa Cruz County Sheriffs Office. Inside, law enforcement found 43 weapons, high capacity magazines, and tactical vests with Washoe County Sheriff’s Office patches on them.

California Department of Fish and Wildlife Mourns Loss of Warden DeMasters |

Sacramento, CA...CDFW suffered a devastating loss on the evening of Feb. 21 when Warden Michael DeMasters lost his life in an off-duty motorcycle accident. Michael graduated from the Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement Academy in 2018 at only 21 years of age and soon returned to his home in Calaveras County where he served as the local wildlife officer. With the extremely close-knit nature of the Calaveras County community and first responders within it, Michael was well known and loved.

Alert Neighbor Lead to Arrest After Residential Burglary |

Sonora, CA...On February 17, during the 5 PM hour, our office was alerted to a residential burglary in the 200 block of West Jackson St. A neighbor in the area noticed subjects in a house. The neighbor attempted to contact the subjects in the residence. Two subjects fled from the residence on foot prior to the Officer’s arrival. Officers were able to locate 28-year- old Falina Grell, of Sonora, hiding behind a business in the area. Grell was ultimately identified as being in the residence. Grell was taken into custody without further incident.
