Costa Mesa Couple Charged in Murder of 6-year-old Aiden Leos During Road Rage Incident on 55 Freeway

Santa Anna, CA...A 24-year-old Costa Mesa man has been charged with murder for shooting and killing a 6-year-old boy during a road rage incident on the 55 freeway on May 21, 2021. The 23-year-old driver of getaway vehicle has been charged with being an accessory after the fact and having a concealed weapon in her vehicle.

Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Team Recap May 26th to June 2nd 2021

San Andreas, CA...From May 26th to June 2nd, 2021, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Unit served four unrelated search warrants for illegal marijuana cultivation in Calaveras County. On May 26th, 2021, in the 16000 block of Joy Road in Mountain Ranch. Deputies seized 1,384 growing marijuana plants with an estimated value exceeding $968,000. One suspect was contacted at the scene and issued a citation. Jorge Lara Aceves, age 37 of San Andreas, was issued a Citation on charges of 11358 H&S Illegal Marijuana Cultivation, 11359 H&S Possession of Marijuana for Sale, and 182 PC Conspiracy to Commit Crime. Evidence was collected and the investigation is ongoing.

50 Year Old Iowa Woman Perishes in Collision on Hwy 49

San Andreas, CA...On June 5, 2021, at approximately 0715 hours, A Georgia man was driving a white Dodge Ram pickup truck northbound on State Route 49, south of O'Connell Lane. A Iowa woman was driving a gray Nissan Altima southbound on State Route 49, south of O'Connell Lane. The Georgia man allowed his vehicle to veer to the left and travel into the southbound lane, directly into the path of the Iowa woman's Nissan Altima. The vehicles collided head-on within the southbound lane. The force of this collision pushed the Nissan back onto the west roadway shoulder and caused the Dodge to overturn. Georgia man was transported from the scene by American Legion Ambulance with minor injuries. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Department of Justice Seizes $2.3 Million in Cryptocurrency Paid to the Ransomware Extortionists Darkside

Washington, DC...The Department of Justice today announced that it has seized 63.7 bitcoins currently valued at approximately $2.3 million. These funds allegedly represent the proceeds of a May 8, ransom payment to individuals in a group known as DarkSide, which had targeted Colonial Pipeline, resulting in critical infrastructure being taken out of operation. The seizure warrant was authorized earlier today by the Honorable Laurel Beeler, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of California.

Puppies Reunited with Their Mother in Pine Grove

Pine Grove, CA...On June 4, 2021, at approximately 1040 hours, Amador County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a residence in the 14000 block of Spurlock Lane in Pine Grove to assist Amador County Animal Control Officers with seizing two dogs that appeared to have been abandoned at the residence. Animal Control had attempted contact with the resident on numerous occasions but received no response. Both dogs were in emaciated condition and in need of immediate food and water. Both dogs were subsequently seized by Animal Control, during which one of the dogs was determined to be a female who had recently given birth to puppies and who was still nursing. No puppies were found outside the residence, so it was believed the puppies were still inside the house.

Only Minor Injuries in Head On La Grange Road Traffic Collision

Jamestown, CA...On June 5th, 2021, at approximately 4:20 pm, 48-year-old Ricky Andrew Haines of Oakdale was driving his 2008 Toyota Camry northbound on La Grange Road, north Paseo Seven Legends. At that same time, 51-year-old Shannon Leann Eldridge of Auberry, Ca was driving her 2017 Ford F350 southbound on La Grange Road, north of Paseo Seven Legends, along with her passengers, 77-year-old Kenneth Long of Auberry, CA and 72-year-old Theresa Long of Auberry, Ca. Mr. Haines allowed his vehicle to travel to the left over the double yellow lines directly in front of Ms. Eldridge’s vehicle. As a result, the vehicles crashed head on.
