Vallecito, CA...The Airola Fire is now currently at 700 acres and is 25% contained. Evacuation Orders: As of 8pm this evening, all Evacuation Orders issued for the Airola Fire will be downgraded to an Evacuation Warning. All other Evacuation Warnings will remain in place.
Suspect Arrested for Illegally Entering Airola Fire Evacuated Area

Vallecito CA...On 8-25-21 at about 3:30 PM Vallecito area was placed under mandatory evacuation orders due to a rapidly spreading wildfire originating near the Parrots Ferry Bridge. Calaveras County deputies, Angels Camp police officers, and California State Parks officers responded to evacuate residents. Once the evacuation was completed they began patrolling the evacuated areas for possible looters. California Highway Patrol officers and the Calaveras County Road Department was tasked with road closures on Parrots Ferry Rd. and other areas around Vallecito.
Vallecito, CA...The latest from the Calaveras Sheriff's Office...Mark Twain Elementary School is an evacuation center. 5:30pm Incident Alert and Evacuation Orders. A wildland fire started around 3:30 pm in the Stanislaus River Canyon near the Parrots Ferry Bridge in Calaveras County. The fire is currently approximately 750 acres.
The following areas are under immediate evacuation orders: Vallecito: All of Parrots Ferry Road from the Tuolumne/Calaveras County line at Parrots Ferry Bridge to Highway 4 including Moaning Cavern and Camp Nine Road areas as well as East of Red Hill Road to Parrots Ferry Road. The towns of Douglas Flat and Murphys are on Evacuation Warning only at this time. An evacuation center is being set up at Mark Twain Elementary school in Angels Camp.
Airola Fire Evening Update from the Calaveras Sheriff's Office

Vallecito, CA...Calaveras County Sheriff's Office Airola Fire 8:00pm update: There is no update on acreage at this time. Last report was between 700-1000 acres. Fire is still listed at 0% containment. Evacuation Order for the Vallecito area is still in affect and expected to remain throughout the night. The surrounding area of Murphys and Douglas Flat were put on Evacuation Warning only earlier this afternoon. No additional Evacuation Orders or Warnings have been issued since the initial response to the fire.

Early Morning Motorcycle Collision Takes Life of Justin Conder, 29 from San Andreas

San Andreas, CA...At approximately 4:27am on August 21st Justin Conder was riding his Harley-Davidson eastbound on SR-26 just east of Deardorff Road at an unknown rate of speed. Mr. Conder allowed the 2011 motorcycle to cross the traffic lanes and leave the roadway. The HD impacted a fence, causing Conder to be ejected from the motorcycle. Unfortunately, he sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision.
Sutter Creek Man Charged in School Incident Over Mask Mandates

Sutter Creek, CA...Sutter Creek resident Jason Wages, 49, has been charged with misdemeanor violations of battery on a school employee, disruptive presence at a school, and disturbing the peace by offensive language. The charges stem from an incident that occurred at Sutter Creek Elementary School on August 11, 2021, over tensions related to the statewide mask mandate at public schools issued by Governor Newsom.
