Early Morning Burglary at Calaveras Coins & Collectibles

Angels Camp, CA...On September 5, 2019 at approximately 3:31 AM, an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department was dispatched to an alarm sounding at Calaveras Coins and Collectibles located at 253 S. Main St. The officer arrived at the business two minutes later at 3:33 AM and found that the business had been burglarized.

Modesto Woman Riding Stolen Motorcycle Leads CHP on High Speed Chase

Sonora, CA...On September 2, 2019, at approximately 3:54 pm, a CHP officer observed a 2014 Yamaha motorcycle with no rear license plate traveling on State Route 108 near Mono Way. The motorcycle was being ridden by 44-year-old Monica Lynn Relaford of Modesto. The CHP officer attempted to make an enforcement stop on the motorcycle, however Ms. Relaford failed to yield to the emergency lights and a pursuit ensued. She led CHP officers on a pursuit which covered more than 12 miles of roadway and reached speeds over 100 miles per hour. Ms. Relaford traveled onto Serrano Road momentarily when she laid the motorcycle down and fled the scene on foot. The CHP officer pursued Ms. Relaford on foot and she was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.

33 Bodies Recovered from Conception Dive Boat Tragedy

Santa Barbara, CA...The Search and Recovery efforts continue today for the one remaining victim of the Conception Boat disaster that occurred early Monday morning. A devastating fire consumed the vessel as it was moored in Platt’s Harbor on the north side of Santa Cruz Island in Santa Barbara County. On Tuesday, September 3, 2019 search and recovery efforts were successful in locating 13 additional victims, adding to the 20 victims that had already been recovered in the proceeding days. The majority of the victims were recovered with the technical expertise of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s dive team, who were able to penetrate into the boat to recover the victims. The victim’s remains were transported to the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office, where the process of identification began. The Coroner’s Office has received a total of 33 victims from the incident. The Coroner’s office is charged with identifying each victim, and determining the cause and manner of death. The remains of a victims from this incident have suffered varying degrees of damage from the devastating fire, requiring DNA analysis to aid in the identification process.

Governor Newsom Signs Legislation Including Bill Eliminating Requirement for Citizens to Help Law Enforcement

Sacramento, CA...Lawmakers on Thursday sent Gov. Gavin Newsom a measure eliminating the California Posse Comitatus Act of 1872. The nearly 150-year-old law makes it a misdemeanor with a fine of up to $1,000 for failing to help police make an arrest or catch a fleeing suspect.

Last Week's Major Injury Collision in Murphys Has Tragically Turned Fatal

Murphys, CA...(Update...We have confirmed with the San Andreas CHP Office that 59 year old Kevin Horigan has passed away from his injuries. They have also sent an updated release) Earlier details from CHP..."On August 25, 2019, at approximately 1624 hours, Horigan was driving his 2013 Mazda MX-5 eastbound on SR-4, west of Williams Street. Lynch Gillespie was driving her 2014 Subaru Impreza westbound on SR-4, west of Williams Street. For reasons still under investigation, the Miata driver unsafely allowed his Mazda to cross over the painted solid double yellow lines separating the east and westbound lanes of SR-4, directly in the path of the approaching Subaru. The front of the Mazda and the front of the Subaru collided within the westbound lane of SR-4, west of Williams Street. Following the collision, the vehicles came to rest blocking the westbound lane.

Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept..."We want to reassure concerned families and community members following some disturbing reports that came into our office. This morning, our office received several reports of a man touching himself in the view of the public in Jamestown and then on the Highway 108 overpass behind Lowe’s Home Improvement store. Several families who were stopped in traffic with their young children, observed the sexual act.

615 Marijuana Plants, 100 Roosters, 50 Hens, Dog & Cat at Wagon Wheel Drive Grow

Copperopolis, CA...On 8/28/2019, the Calaveras Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Unit served a search warrant for illegal marijuana cultivation on a location in the 3000 block of Wagonwheel Drive in Copperopolis. During the investigation, Deputies located 615 growing marijuana plants growing in areas surrounding the house. Additionally, Deputies discovered a dog, a cat, and over 150 chickens housed in small pens which included approximately 100 large roosters. Numerous dead chickens were found in the pens with live chickens.

Calaveras Marijuana Enforcement Unit Conducted Raids in Rail Road Flat & Copperopolis

Rail Road Flat, CA...On 8/27/2019, the Calaveras Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Unit served a search warrant for illegal marijuana cultivation on a location in the 1000 block of Simpson Rd in Railroad Flat. During the investigation, deputies located and eradicated 741 growing marijuana plants and a small amount of processed marijuana. Calaveras County Code Compliance responded to the scene and red tagged the property for county code violations including some related to unpermitted structures. No subjects were found on scene, however the investigation is ongoing.
