Calaveras Art Council’s Cajun Fête Fun and Fund Raiser celebrates the Good Life with Music by Tom Rigney and Flambeau

Posted by: Lea_Marie_C_Paar on 06/26/2014 08:00 PM
Sheep Ranch, Ca...Going to the longest-running Cajun party in Calaveras County is almost like stepping into a Louisiana bayou setting without the humidity. This is the 21th year of the Cajun Fête, the Calaveras Arts Council’s annual Dinner and Dance Benefit, held in Sheep Ranch at the historic, privately owned, Pioneer Hotel. The hotel is nearly 100-year-old and a former boarding house for miners. It has wrap-around verandas on both stories, the old, hard lived structure, just begs for a relaxed down-home party, both inside and outside. The spacious shady grounds are perfect for dining and dancing. The party is on Saturday, August 2, beginning at 5:00 pm. Tom Rigney, and Flambeau return and will perform the hottest music to spice up any evening getting your toes tappin, with Cajun / Zydeco music. The party lasts all night. Prior to the dance party, a complete, specially-prepared Cajun dinner including Jambalaya prawns, barrel-smoked chicken, grilled Andouille sausage, beans, rice, salad, and Cajun sauces and seasonings will be served from the historic kitchen where miners once grabbed their grub. A no-host bar will serve wines, local brews and the notorious “Cajun Kickers.” Free chicory coffee, lemonade and ice tea is also available. Popcorn too! Table seating is limited but there is additional seating inside the hotel, and on the front and side porches...
