Twisted Folk Concert Series Presents: Chris Webster and Nina Gerber with Special guest Jill Warren

Posted by: Lea_Marie_C_Paar on 07/15/2014 08:15 PM
Vallecito, Ca...Twisted Oak Winery is pleased to announce the next concert of our Twisted Folk Concert Series – featuring Chris Webster and Nina Gerber! “Two amazing women on our stage at the same time!,” said winery co-owner Jeff Stai. “Chris Webster’s amazing singing voice that wowed everyone that saw her perform here with Mumbo Gumbo last year – and the amazing guitar playing of Nina Gerber. How could it be any better?” An easy dinner (easy because you don’t have to cook) featuring a Caesar chicken wrap will be available for purchase (with a vegetarian option available), along with yummy Twisted Oak wine, brownies, popcorn, and soft drinks. Concertgoers are welcome to bring their own picnics but we ask that no outside alcoholic beverages be brought in. Seating at Twisted Folk concerts is outdoor festival style, first-come, first-served – bring a low beach-type chair or a blanket. We’re on top of a hill and there is always an evening breeze – it can get a little chilly after dark so please plan ahead...

Sourdough Slim and Robert Armstrong Pony Up with Great Entertainment for Calaveras Arts Music in the Parks 2014

Posted by: Lea_Marie_C_Paar on 07/15/2014 09:45 PM
Arnold, Ca...The Calaveras Arts Council is happy and laughing to bring back MIP favorites, cowboy entertainer Sourdough Slim and his sidekick Robert Armstrong to The HUB at the Arnold Cedar Center. Music starts at 6:30 pm, but get there early and stake your ground for these two cowboy entertainers. Roots revivalists Sourdough Slim and Robert Armstrong are passionate about the music they play and the culture from which it springs. Proud torch-bearers of America's rich roots music heritage, the two demonstrate their enthusiasm from the first catchy bars of "My Last Old Dollar" to the last wistful strains of their phenomenal re-creation of Stan Jones' immortal "Riders In The Sky." These exceptional showmen joyously rekindle the country blues, western classics, vintage jazz and string band repertoire of twentieth century rural America. A fast-paced performance that showcases their seasoned gift for connecting with audiences is a surefire treat. Whether capturing the haunting refrain of a Jimmie Rodgers blue yodel or swinging out a hot novelty number, the fun these two cut-ups have on stage leads to a contagious good time for everyone in the house...

Posted by: Lea_Marie_C_Paar on 07/10/2014 05:12 PM
Valley Springs, Ca...At the Valley Springs Ball Field on July 9th, 2014, the dynamic duo of Suprecret had everybody grooving with their quick wit, original songs, and their own take on some of the classics. With the Arts Council passing out frisbees and hula hoops donated from Mark Twain Medical Center, the Ball Field was a perfect venue; the crowd was able to spread out so there was room to relax, dance, or play, wherever the tunes took you...

Grover Anderson Wows Music in the Parks Audiences with Words in Moke Hill’s Shutter Tree Park Tonight!

Posted by: Lea_Marie_C_Paar on 07/06/2014 10:55 AM
Mokelumne Hill, Ca...Mokelumne Hill was once a sleepy little hamlet but that was decades ago. It is now a bustling hamlet with lots going on; especially about music. On Wednesday, July 16, Calaveras Arts Council brings Music in the Parks to Moke Hill’s Shutter Tree Park and the music will be cranked up with folks dancing, Lion’s Club members selling pies and ice cream, and with much more going on. Music starts at 6:30pm but folks come early to set up camp with their picnic dinners and low back chairs. Grover Anderson performed last year for MIP but it was one of those summer days when the thermometer read 102 degrees in the shade. This year the temperature will be cooler but the music will be hot. Grover is an amazing, singer-songwriter based out of Murphys with an intellect and style in the prolific traditions of the folk-rock pioneers of the 60s and 70s. Grover says the industry requires a genre so he is all about folk but he prefers to known as a story teller. Regardless of his genre, the crowds will be engaged by his music and storytelling. Grover is accompanied by foothill musicians Kevin Bernido on bass; Josh Certo on drums; and Chris Stevens on lead guitar....

Murphys, Ca...Everyone is invited to the 65th annual Murphys Homecoming to be held Saturday, July 19, in the cool confines of the town’s historic park. Several members of our Community Club board will be dressed in period costumes to add authentic ambiance."
