Calaveras High School Band Get's Gold Rating at Forum Festival!~by Kayla Schlenz

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 04/27/2009 10:55 PM
My name is Kayla Schlenz, and I am a member of the Calaveras High band. This saturday, the band got a gold rating at the forum festival. A gold rating means that we are playing at the top 10 percentile in the nation. One of our French Horn Players, Matt Ruth, also got the Musicianship award, meaning that he is one of the most valuable musicians in our band. The entire band is proud and we were hoping that you could put this on your site. I have two pictures of us performing at the festival and one of us with the rewards. In the picture of us....

This Week on Welcome to the Country...."Friendships Take on a Whole New Meaning" ~By Charity Maness

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/26/2009 11:22 PM
So you‘ve decided to move to the country where that crazy thing we call friendship takes on a whole new meaning. In the country we enjoy the same kind of things that you and your city friends might enjoy, just with a bit of a country twist. A good friend in the city will gladly enjoy a quiet relaxing morning at the salon with you, partaking of a wonderfully decadent pedicure and a luxurious leg massage. A country friend will do the same but then will accompany you to the feed store, help you load a ton of hay in your pick up, follow you home, and then help you stack it in your barn. (All the while in sandals so as not to ruin their new pedicure.)....

What has country friendship given you?

Last Weekend for Laundry and Lonestar....They go together like Rum and Coke~by Noella Eastlake

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 04/25/2009 09:23 PM

Murphys, Ca… It’s a two-for-one special down at the newly improved Blackbart Playhouse as Murphys Creek Theater brings you two great one-act plays. Each act of this fantastic duo focuses on one side of a very deep and meaningful story, if you can look beneath the humor that bubbles over. Our first tale takes us into the lives of wives down in Menard, Texas. It’s late afternoon, and Elizabeth Caulder is staring out over the Texan plains. It is clear something is on her mind, the look of disdain clearly hangs on her face as she tears herself away to answer the incessant calls of best friend Hattie, played by Susannah Alatt. ....

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/24/2009 03:32 PM

Posted by: thepinetree on 04/22/2009 09:53 AM

Murphys, CA...Last night we had the pleasure to record another "Chat With The Cast" with the Cast of the Murphys Creek Theater's Laundry and Bourbon/Lone Star. This is a great Adult Comedy. On our last segment Director Graham Scott Green asked questions as the cast was just starting to really explore their Characters. This week with only Two Days until opening the cast has made their characters living, breathing three dimensional beings. Listen in as Graham takes them on a journey exploring their parts just ahead of opening day. This segment runs about 20 minutes and is enclosed...

The One That Didn’t Get Away~by Dennis Lee

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 04/22/2009 09:07 AM
"Sunday morning, April 19, 2009 was a good day to go fishing at New Melones Reservoir. Everyone was busy so off I went alone. It wasn’t long before I felt something…upon hook set, my rod jolted downward with awesome force. Using a Berkley Power Hawg and 5601 ABU Garcia with 20 lb Stren and a Dobyns swim bait rod, I was prepared. I knew instantly it was a Gorilla!! The fish dove under a lay down tree with four large limbs. The power of the rod enabled me to hammer its head into a limb. That seemed to shock the fish. It bucked violently then just laid there with its giant protruding eyes looked up at me. I thought Oh Boy… what do I do now? My first .....
