Vallecito, CA....The May 24, 2009, Twisted Oak Winery benefit dinner for Calaveras Big Trees Association has been rescheduled to Sunday, May 24, 2009 on Memorial Day Weekend at 6:30 p.m. A portion of the proceeds from the dinner will support CBTA in their ongoing commitment to provide interpretation of human and natural history at the park. Twisted Oak Winery, located at 4280 Red Hill Road, Vallecito, will feature a grilled chicken dinner, including wine for $35 per person. CBTA member volunteers will serve and clean-up at the event. Angels Camp, CA.....The ever so popular Angels Camp Fresh Fridays Farmers Market is almost here.....Opening Day is June 5th and we will continue through to October 9th. This weekly event is hosted by the Angels Camp Business Association. "We have a lot of great vendors this year and it is going to be a full market. On June 12th, we have a special group performing. Chains Required performs at Black Oak Casino and we have the privilege of having them perform at the market. Chains Required is not the average band, they have a horn section that will make you jump out of your seats!"....

Brown University and Northeastern University will Study the Jumping Performance of the Frogs in This Years Jumping Frog Jubilee

Frogtown…Angels Camp…CA Researchers from Brown University and Northeastern University will travel to the 2009 Calaveras County Fair to study the jumping performance of the frogs participating in the jumping contest. The research project is aimed at understanding how frogs' muscles power such long jumps. Welcome to Ebbetts Pass Sporting Goods first fishing report for the the 2009 season. General fishing season opens this upcoming Saturday April 25, 2009. We are looking forward to a fabulous fishing season. Access will be limited to Calaveras Big Trees State Park and Board's Crossing Road in Dorrington. The NCPA anticipates having Spicer open by Memorial weekend depending on snowmelt and weather. For an update on the road to Spicer you can call 209-728-1387. If you are able to make it to Spicer, Hobart Creek is off limits until July....

Introducing the 2009 Calaveras County Saddle Queen Contestants! The Saddle Queens will hold their competition on May 14th at 1pm at the Calaveras County Fair and Frog Jumping Jubilee. The 5 contestants will compete in an interview, equitation, reigning pattern, barrel race, and queen salute. The winners will be awarded crowns and scholarships. Be sure to attend the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee May 14th through 17th at Frogtown, USA.....

Calaveras County, CA.....Returning to our history, the Friends of the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee are excited to bring back the Coronation Ball, honoring those ladies who so gracefully served as the public representatives for the Fair & Frog Jump since 1937. Save the date! The Coronation Ball will be held on Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 at Mark Twain hall in Frogtown. Social Hour from 5pm~6pm, with a Special Presentation "72 Years of Bells and Whistles." Dinner will be served at 7pm with Dancing from 8pm~til' Midnight. Ladies who once held the title of Miss Calaveras, Belle of the Camp or Saddle Queen will soon be gathering once again at Frogtown.
