Murphys, CA...Save the Date - June 20-22, 2014 - Behind the Bottle Weekend - The week-end kicks-off on Friday night with a concert in Murphys Park. Bring a folding chair and a couple of blankets to settle in for a night of swing music by the band Swing Gitane. Wines by the glass and food will be available for purchase. No ticket required. Or, if you are looking for something more in depth join us for an exclusive and elegant Farm-to-Table dinner with our winemakers and winery owners. Here you will get to taste some of the best wines of Calaveras and chat with the people who make them. They will be pouring their wines before dinner and then will join you at your table during the exquisite four-course gourmet meal featuring local foods from Calaveras County. Spend the rest of the weekend chatting with your favorite winery staff while sampling their latest releases, or attend a wine appreciation, wine making, wine blending, food pairing, cheese or charcuterie workshop. Rodeo Rockin' the Arena - Fun for the Whole Herd, May 15-18, 2014

Frogtown, USA...The Rockin' M Rodeo Company will be producing a California Cowboys Professional Rodeo at the 2014 Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee. This exciting event will be on May 17 at 7:30p.m. For the first time since 1998 the Frogtown Arena will be hosting a full rodeo, including team roping, bull dogging, barrels, bulls, broncs, clowns and more. The rodeo is free with the price of admission. Advance tickets are available at Frogtown.org. This is event is being brought to you by the Sam L. Higgins Ranch and the Friends of the Calaveras County Fair!

Vallecito, CA....Twisted Oak Winery is pleased to announce the continuation of our Twisted Folk Concert Series – featuring roots rock legends Dave Alvin and Phil Alvin! “Dave and Phil Alvin, who formed The Blasters back in 1979, are back together singing the songs of blues legend Big Bill Broonzy,” said winery co-owner Jeff Stai. “If you have any love for the blues in your soul, take my word for it you need to come to this show. Calaveras Arts Council Announces Summer Filled Fun

The Calaveras Arts Council announces lots of fun this summer both in their new Gallery Store and in the local parks throughout the county. The free Wednesday evening summer series, Music in the Parks, begins on June 11 in Copperopolis and ends ten weeks later in Murphys on August 13. To help pay for these performances, the arts council is launching its membership drive to sign up new members and to re-sign existing members. Individual membership is $35 and Family membership is $50. Membership is from July 1 to June 30. Membership gives you that special feeling for supporting the arts as well as discounts at event ticket sales and Gallery Store purchases. The big August 2 fundraiser in Sheep Ranch, Cajun Fete Dinner and Dance Party, tickets for members is $65/each; for non-members they are $75/each. Enjoy the savings by becoming a member...

Bear Valley Music Festival 2014 Tickets Go On Sale May 15th

Bear Valley, CA....Music Director, Michael Morgan, and newly appointed Executive Director, Tara Kayton, have planned an exciting three-week Festival with fifteen varied concerts and events to present in the village of Bear Valley for the 46th annual Bear Valley Music Festival to be held July 25-August 10. The vitality of the Festival will be seen in the robust classical music series and the exciting return of 2013 favorites The Delphi Trio, pianist, Richard Glazier, soprano Shawnette Sulker and jazz pianist Taylor Eigsti. There will be a unique new orchestral tango concerto composed and performed by bandoneon player JP Jofre from Argentina. The Festival is also thrilled to open with folk string band The Brothers Comatose and popular blues guitarist Tommy Castro & The Painkillers. BVMF’s dedication to family programming will continue with the Classical Stars of Tomorrow and a fun-filled kids concert with violinist, Dawn Harms. Three special events will be: Moonlit Masquerade gala and auction, an evening of wine paired with chamber music, and a day of collaboration with Alpine county to celebrate its 150th anniversary with bluegrass band Iron Horse. The final concert will feature violinist Stephanie Chase and pianist Sara Davis Buechner in an all-Beethoven program....

Hovey Winery Releases First Cabernet

Calaveras County, May 2, 2014 – Sierra Foothill winemaker, Chuck Hovey, will showcase the first release of Isabel Cabernet Sauvignon May 31 starting at 6:30 p.m. with an event befitting its namesake, his grandmother, Isabel Hovey. The premier event, The Isabel Coming out Party, features a “Great Gatsby” theme in honor of Isabel. Live music from the 1920s performed by the 10-piece Speakeazy Jazz Orchestra, a full gourmet dinner, professional photos alongside a vintage automobile and a lively group toast to Isabel is planned in the tasting room gardens, 350 Main St., Murphys.
