Winter Sports History Night Honoring Mark Phillips & Ski Racing at Bear Valley is December 16th

Bear Valley, CA...The Ebbetts Pass Historical Association (EPHA) hosts the annual Winter Sports History Night at the Bear Valley Lodge on December 16, 7pm. Mark Phillips will be given the Peter Brinkman Award for outstanding contributions to winter sports in the Ebbetts Pass area. A retrospective of the history of ski racing in the area will be given. From Snowshoe Thompson to the junior race teams to Nastar to star graduates like Kyle Rasmussen, Eric Arvidsson, Holly Beatty, Claude and Nancy Fiddler – both downhill and cross country racing will be honored.

Saturdays in Murphys - Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are available at no charge (donations gratefully accepted) on Saturday mornings at 10am leaving from the Old Timers Museum. Mountain Ranch, CA...The Tradition of Mountain Ranch Town Christmas. The tree was erected on November 26th by the faithful elves of Mountain Ranch, Jerry, Mel, Pete, Phil, Joe and others. Decorations were installed by local Ladies who volunteer every year. As best we can determine this is the 140th year of our town tree. This Year the tree was donated by Linda Spence.

Our 8th Annual Caroling in the Cavern Concert at Moaning Cavern is Friday, December 8th, 2017 at 6:30pm (check-in begins at 6pm) featuring the talented local choir Jazz@8 from Summerville High School. Beautifully arranged carols sung a cappella in multi-part-harmony come to life in this spectacular environment with its incredible natural acoustics. Resort Services Open This Weekend at Bear Valley, No Trails Yet

Bear Valley, CA...While snow making is under way at Bear Valley Mountain, our operations team has evaluated the current natural snow base, along with weather outlook for the next 7 days and determined that we will not have the snow conditions required to be able to turn lifts or open trails this coming Saturday and Sunday, 12/9 and 12/10. We are looking forward to turning lifts soon and will update plans for the season’s start no later than Dec 13th.
