Murphys, CA...We will be gathering at the Newsome-Harlow Courtyard (403 Main St., Murphys) to celebrate the release of Grover Anderson's second studio album, "Tourniquet." The music starts Friday, October 14th at 7pm. There will be CDs ($5), food, and wine available for purchase, all ages are welcome. Grover Anderson is a Murphys native who has performed up and down the state of California. Heavily influenced by folk, country, and singer-songwriters like Josh Ritter & Jason Mraz, he brings a high-energy show of original and cover songs that will get your heart beating and your booty shaking. He is joined by Eddie Castro on percussion and blues harp....

Newsome-Harlow created Bacon Fest as a way to say thanks to its many local supporters. Chef Melly concotes some amazing bacon treats, all that pair perfectly with Newsome-Harlow's award winning red wines. Bear Valley, CA...The snow has been cleared and sunshine and higher temps are on the way so Caltrans has reopened both Hwy 4 and Hwy 108 for the weekend. Now would be the perfect weekend to catch some our local high country splendor. Local Videographer and Sierra Sentry Owner Sandi Pierce produced a great video of the Ebbetts Pass Area for the Scenic Byway Celebration this year...

Jamestown, CA...With fall just around the corner, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) is proud to offer crowd-pleasing “Harvest Haunt Express” train rides on four upcoming consecutive weekends: October 8-9, October 15-16, October 22-23 and October 29-30. Staffed by a “skeleton crew,” the popular train rides take place aboard an excursion train that departs on-the-hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Saturdays, the excursion train will be pulled by Sierra No. 3 (the “Movie Star Locomotive”) and on Sundays by a vintage diesel locomotive.....
