Calaveras Grape Stomp Celebrates 18th Anniversary Saturday October 1st!

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 09/21/2011 08:35 PM
Murphys, CA...Interested in being part of the Calaveras Grape Stomp history? Reserve your team and celebrate one of the most anticipated events in the region, drawing large, loud crowds and scores of stomp teams, many festooned in original costume. Last year, besides partaking of the usual great food, wine, great silent auction, and kid's activities, Stomp goers witnessed another fierce competition between teams vying for the title of the Calaveras Grape Stomp Champion. Stomp Teams are composed of two persons, one inside a half barrel filled with 25 pounds of grapes, another outside the barrel reaching in to ensure a smooth flow of juice out the drain spot. It's a sticky business for all concerned. All this fun for only $50 per team....

The 2010 Grape Stomp Winners Tim & Cathy Mueller are on the right. Click above for over 150 Photos and Complete Video Coverage of the Semi-Finals and Finals is enclosed..

All of the proceeds went to help defray expenses for the 1992 Miss Calaveras Catherine Cornish Lewallan who is waging a heroic fight against cancer. The Ranch House at Frogtown played host and was a great venue. Almost Mr. Calaveras, Brook Moes with 7 kids of his own had definitely earned his Mr. and Father points...
