This year Jamaican Reggae is the focal point starting out this annual event at the roots of the genre. Karen Henderson and her crew really put on a show not only to showcase their Wonderful Cupcake Shop but also give the world another peek at why Murphys and Calaveras county is one of The Great Places on the planet to be. Angels Camp, CA...(Update...We just received a call from Jeff Olson from Angels Theatre that apparently a local teenager posted that the Theatre was closing. Jeff was alarmed and wanted us to post a reassuring note to the Contrary!!! So hop in the car and go buy some popcorn and take in a movie and the best Theatre in the Mother Lode that plans on being the Anchor of Downtown Angels Camp for decades to come!!! Why not take in a movie the best....Angels 6 Theatres! The Mother Lode Friends of Music, the regional organization for classical music performances, presents its first concert of the new year on Sunday, January 29, starting at 2 p.m. in the Church of the Nazarene, 14050 Ridge Road, in Sutter Creek. The concert is free and open to the public. The concert will feature selections for wind quintet, a combination comprising flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn and bassoon that has been popular with composers for over two hundred years. Jamestown, CA....Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) will offer special, behind-the-scenes Shop Tours of the historic site on three upcoming Fridays in 2012: January 13, February 10 and March 9 from 10 a.m. to noon each day. As part of this special opportunity, visitors will have the chance to get an up-close viewing of exciting projects currently underway plus learn about recently completed projects such as the amazing restoration effort of the famed Sierra No. 3, also known as the "Movie Star Locomotive." The cost for the unique Shop Tours experience is included with Park admission.....

Murphys, CA...Steve Seskin, Craig Carothers, and Don Henry, three of country music’s most successful songwriters will return to Murphys for a third time to stage a concert on behalf of the Mind Matters Clinic on Sunday, January 15, 2 p.m. in the Black Bart Playhouse, 580 S. Algiers St. The trio played to a sold-out house last January and received high praise from the enthusiastic audience. In addition to performing their works, the three engaged in spirited repartee and told backstage stories. It was an afternoon of good music and much humor....
Murphys, CA...Murphys was ground zero for New Years Eve celebrations in the county this year. Many other locations including Bear Valley, Sequoia Woods in Arnold and Camps in Angels Camp and others all had celebrations but Murphys had several different celebrating options within a short distance of each other.
