Black Oak Casino Resort Chosen to Host National Finals for the Karaoke World Championships USA |

Tuolumne, CA...The country’s largest and most prestigious karaoke competition will be held at Black Oak Casino Resort later this year. The Casino has been chosen to host the National Championships for the Karaoke World Championships USA (KWCUSA) on October 3-5, 2013. The Karaoke World Championships USA is the only nationwide event sanctioned by the International Karaoke Authority located in Lahti, Finland. Black Oak will also host the Northern California State Championships and will be a local qualifying venue as well....

Murphys, CA...Here are the clips from the Murphys Open House and Parade that was a great night to really kick off the Christmas Season in Murphys. It is fitting then that this will be the last 2012 piece will post and as the holiday season comes to a close and most people wade into 2013 in earnest on Monday. Yogurt Your Way's Jenny Baxter organized the parade and MC'ed the affair from the balcony of the Murphys Hotel. It was another of the small town nights that many people have never experienced. We would like to thank Donna Hester for sending in some beautiful photos of the kids with Santa. There are almost 150 photos in the photo album and about 10 minutes of video is enclosed...

Calaveras County and Beyond...Kindness Week is February 11-17, 2013! The idea is simple: When we make a conscious effort to perform a kind act, ripples of kindness flow forth. The grassroots effort to promote random acts of kindness firmly took hold in 1995 when the Angels Camp City Council issued a proclamation and The City of Angels became the first designated "Kindness Zone" in the United States. Since then, the ripples of kindness have continued to spread and now wash over all Calaveras County Schools in a celebration of kindness each February. Winter Trails Day is an international event designed to introduce brand new skiers to the sport of cross country skiing in a fun and festive atmosphere. The day's festivities will begin at 9:00 a.m. Bear Valley Cross Country will offer first-time, never before cross country skiers (ages 9 and up) a one-time-only free introductory cross country ski package, including beginner lesson, equipment rental and trail pass (a $57 value)...

Murphys, CA...January is here, so we are once again featuring a series of optional 4-course beer paired menus every Tuesday in January. This coming Tuesday, not only will we feature great beers on this menu, we will also feature products from The Arnold Pantry, a local business supplying restaurants and the general public with locally-produced, organic, and seasonal products.
