Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People……….. 5″ of new snow overnight! The storm has slowed down and overnight totals are not quite like the forecast but today looks to ramp itself up a bit and bring a possible 10-14″ of new snow during the day. Another 1-2′ is expected to fall tonight and thru the day on Sunday. Winds will be out of the Southwest to 40mph. It’s the Christmas Holidays, so come on out, bring the Family and enjoy the snow! Columbia, CA...Ever wondered how you can give back to the community and help one of your local California State Parks at the same time? Become a Columbia State Park docent! A docent is a volunteer who has completed a training program with the park which includes history lectures, park etiquette and rules, costuming guidelines and more. Columbia is in need of museum workers at the information center in the middle of town, teachers at the historic school, planning and organizing special events, costumed interpretation throughout the year and many other jobs! ...

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People……….. Friday morning the next storm will move it’s way into California and will start a good showing of snowfall over the next 3-4 days. 2′-4′ is expected to fall by Monday morning. Snow levels could start out at 4000′ or so and rise to around 5000′ for the remainder of the storm. It’s Christmas Holidays, so come on out, bring the Family and enjoy the snow! Check in daily. Angels Camp, CA...Calaveras Arts Council opens Ovations 2013 Performing Arts Series with the Brubeck Jazz Institute Quintet (BIJZ) at Dr. Elliott Smart Performing Arts Center located at Bret Harte High School, 323 Highway 49, in Angels Camp. Five impressively talented young musicians make up the current BIJQ and will perform on Sunday January 13 at 3:00pm. Adult tickets are $25 and Youth 18 years and younger at $10.00. This year the Calaveras Community Foundation is underwriting a limited number of youth tickets to help expose youth to a variety of music and dance performances. There are only 150 tickets available for the entire season so order soon...

Angels Camp, CA...Studio 4 Dance Theater presents a full length, professional quality production of "The Nutcracker" again this holiday season at Bret Harte Theater in Angels Camp. Thursday December 13, 2012 @ 6pm, Friday December 14, 2012 @ 6 pm. Saturday December 15, 2012 @ 1pm and 6pm. We stopped by the dress rehersal last night and the attendees are in for a treat. Bear Valley, CA...Bear Valley Mountain, the Northern Sierra’s premier family skiing and snowboarding resort, today announced it will open one day earlier than planned and will offer a FREE lift ticket on opening day. Bear Valley originally announced plans to open December 21st, 2012. The resort has now opted to push the date to Thursday December 20th, 2012 just in case the mystical prophecy slated for December 21st, 2012 comes true. Free tickets will be issued at the resort on December 20th only, beginning at 9am. The resort plans to operate Kuma, Koala and Cub chair for the day offering a variety of terrain for beginners to expert. The resort is reporting 35 inch base with total snowfall of 84 inches of natural snow for the season and is currently making snow...
