Mark Twain Medical Center Announces 5th Annual Spring Health Fair & Lupus Awareness Fun/Run Walk |

Murphys, CA....Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) will be holding its 5th Annual Health Fair and Lupus Fun/Run Walk on Saturday, March 22nd, from 8am until noon at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys. Over forty community health related service groups will participate in this community-wide event. A wealth of information will be available on topics such as senior health services, health insurance, nutrition, fitness and diabetes. There will also be a variety of free health screenings – body fat, physical fitness levels, colon cancer screening kits, and metabolic screenings. Low cost testing and services include Blood Analysis ($45), and Bone Density Screenings ($10). In addition to the five-panel blood analysis (this test consists of a chemistry panel, thyroid, complete blood count, lipid panel, iron for women, and PSA for men), the Medical Center will also now screen for vitamin D deficiencies....

Calaveras Arts Council Ovation’s ticket holders will have an opportunity to sing their own praises for him when they see him perform for the arts council’s last show of the season. Called the Charlie Russell of Western Music by Cowboy and Indians Magazine, Dave Stamey comes to the Dr. Elliott Smart Performing Arts Center in Angels Camp on Sunday, March 30....

Murphys, CA...There are 22 suicides per day by our military men and women suffering from PTSD. This statistic far outnumbers our military’s losses in combat each and every day. Even one suicide from what should and can be a treatable condition, is still one too many. Why is this happening and what can be done about it? My name is Rae Davis, and I am a producer with the film, Burden of Freedom. This dramatic, full length feature film follows two Iraq war veterans from the military, to civilian life, only to find that their lives have been changed forever by PTSD. Currently we are in the pre-production phase of our film, and are rapidly gaining the support of current military personnel and of our country’s veterans.

Join us for a parade at 11 am, stay to eat, taste and shop the Irish Day booth, local tasting rooms and stores of Murphys, buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win our famous trip to Ireland, enjoy music, dancing and Celtic entertainment on our two stages and wrap the day up with dinner at one of our restaurants. 10 am to 5 pm - get here early to grab a good spot to watch the parade.
