Jamestown, CA...Before the historic locomotives start rolling along for a new season of train rides this spring, California State Parks and Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) are offering a behind-the-scenes “Roundhouse Day” on Saturday, February 14, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Park visitors will have the opportunity to watch important wintertime maintenance, cleaning and preparatory work being done inside and outside the Roundhouse and Historic Shops....

Bear Valley, CA...We had the chance to talk about Bear Valley's Season and how their increased snow making means they are open and thriving when Dodge Ridge and some other resorts have closed pending more natural snow. Bear Valley has virtually the entire upper mountain open. Snow making is becoming a vital and integral part of running a viable ski resort in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. One of the first things Skyline did upon taking over was repair, tune up, and get the snow making equipment ready for the season. So now basically when overnight temps drop they have the guns blowing on every run that has water lines in place and snow making is an integral part of future plans...

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! Mostly sunny today with a high near 48. East northeast wind 8 to 10 mph. High pressure seems to be the thing right now and looks to stick around for another week or so. We have some of the best conditions in the Sierra right now! Super Bowl weekend is a prime to come up and enjoy the "Pure Mtn Fun" of Bear Valley and take a lesson or just hang out on the lower deck or the recent remodeled upper bar deck! Peace Out, Mattly
