Vallecito, CA...It is Murphys Irish Day This Saturday and Twisted Oak is having another contest already?! Stop by their Murphys Tasting Room on Main Street and say "ello!" Yes, Another Contest! It's already Spring bottling time and we need help writing one of our back labels. Calaveras County, CA...The theme of the Calaveras County Fair & Frog Jumping Jubilee is "Heard it Through the Bovine." Through the theme, the fair is celebrating reading. To this end, the fair is rewarding students for reading. Young students will get credit for having a parent, grandparent or friend read to them; older students must do independent reading. The program began on March 1st and will end April 15th, 2008. The completed reading log is to be turned into the fair grounds office. Students just record.....

San Andreas, CA… The fabulous student actors from both Toyon Middle School and Calaveras High School have put on a wonderful play production “Seussical” after the creative Dr. Seuss book Horton Hear a Who. The play tells the story of Horton the Elephant who, on the fifteenth of May in the Jungle of Nool, hears a small speck of dust talking to him. It turns out the speck of dust is actually a tiny planet, home to a city called "Who-ville", inhabited by microscopic-sized inhabitants known as Whos……

Bear Valley, CA...The next time you are in the mood for some gourmet fresh cuisine, head on over to Headwaters Cafe in the Bear Valley Village. We had the pleasure of dining up there last week. Our boys really enjoyed that they were able to order steak off of the Childrens Menu! They were in heaven! I ordered one of the prettiest and best hamburgers I have ever seen and tasted...Almost too pretty to eat, but I managed to anyways! John ordered the Mushroom and Spinach Pasta and said it was the best pasta he had ever tasted! Bear Valley, CA...Tomorrow Bear Valley Cross Country hosts the 35th Annual Bjornloppet Race. It is one of most prestigious events on the cross county racing calendar on the West Coast. The Bjornloppet offers 10k & 20k lenghts for you to test your skills and fitness levels against the other competitors. This event has become somewhat of a reunion event as well. It seems to draw the Bear Valley veterans back to the area for a visit. We had the chance to talk with Bear Valley Cross Country's Head Skater Paul Peterson about the upcoming race and all the latest updates on what is happen at BVXC and their over 40 miles of trails, Sledding Hills and other attractions and activities for you to do in the beautiful Bear Valley Meadow and surrounding areas...

Bear Valley, CA...Four outstanding area high school students who symbolize the future leaders of Calaveras County have been selected to be the Grand Marshals of the Murphys Irish Day Parade to be held in the historic gold rush town on Saturday, March 15, at 11 a.m. parade organizers JoAnna and Bob Reagan felt it was important to honor all the young people of the area who involve themselves in their schools and their communities learning skills and developing traits that will serve them well in their coming endeavors......

West Point, CA....Artists who wish to participate in Art in the Garden to be held June 28, 2008 are invited to bring a sample of their work for jurying to the West Point Elementary School at Hwy 26 and Bald Mt. Rd., on Sunday March 16, 2008 between 12 and 1 p.m. Items may be picked up after 3 p.m. that day and artists will be informed of the jury's decision by mail the following week.....
